Normally the principal makes the recommendation. In this case it should be the assistant principal and maybe the chairman of the committee or both. Now if you wait til July 2st and a new principal is in place then he or she can recommend.

It’s my understanding that they are going to make the hire as soon as possible. They want the new coach to get in get his staff and take the team through spring workouts

I’ve been told that Evans is the frontrunner for this one and that a coordinator from a PineBelt 7A school is in the mix as well. But that’s third hand information so take from it what you want.

If Seth McDonald is interested I would hire him in a heartbeat. Great coach and a great guy. Really, really good guy. He was a head coach at Tville before leaving and going to Petal.

I don’t know who that is. I can’t remember the name but the guy I’m talking about is from OG. I’m not sure if he’s an offensive or defensive guy. I’ll have to ask my source again.

How many asst coaches from petal have went elsewhere and done anything?  Anything at all ? We just got loose from a so called “good guy” .

The OG guy is someone named Sam i think. While he is supposed to ve offensive minded neither move the needle for me . There are whispers of a guy that will definitely be a shocker if we can pull him away.  King wanted to come last season but the two blue plate specials hung around one year too long.
I am just ready to wrap this up .

I believe he’s talking about former Greene County Coach. I’m not sure he ever had interest of coming or not so I can’t speak on that. I would have loved to have had him I believe he’s a very good coach.

I just don't see King leaving Hancock after 1 season, but strange things happen with coaching carousels.

Seth McDonald isn’t your typical coordinator. He’s been a head coach, and would still be a head coach but left to go to a better school. He took Taylorsville to back to back south state championship appearances in his 2 years there. And I actually believe he was calling both the offense and the defense while he was there. That guy is a good dang coach.

Oh I don’t either but Slick said they stayed one year too long. I took that to mean if the job had been open last year he may have took it.

There’s a lot of applications coming in. Kind of surprised but at one time this was one of the more coveted jobs in the state.

There’s several HCs that will surprise people if they knew and I’m not giving names that’s not my place. I know of four current 6A coaches whose names are in the hat. To give out names and if they don’t get the job it may cause issues with their current employer. I know there’s a few smaller school coaches also. Yes they’re OC and DC’s all the way up to 7A. I don’t know of any out of state schools at this point

Hathorne is leaving. He deserves to be leaving carrying a much bigger humiliation than just slinking away on a simple resignation. He committed many .many wrongs that can never be made right. Mr Fish for one. 

 

So whoever ends up with the whistle can make one of these partially right again. From day one you bring Kat back. Nobody embodies what WC football used to be than Kat Gandy..Hathorne tossed him aside for a football loser like himself. We would have been in much better shape had he had the chance to finish building what he picked out of the ashes.  The place is  home for him.

Anyone that wants Daryl Carter over some of the people that have applied are from Beat Four and probably his kinfolks in Altair. 
That and Hathorne, who has told him to come back and talka second time . Oh and Al Smith out there to try and gain political support  he can sell in the future.

leadship  on that BOE ? Hathorne has quit and yall are letting him be the go to guy on people making inquiries and doing all the communicating on calling people in for interviews. He knows nothing about what it takes to win. He’s never done it. My people vote there too. If you want the rest of the state to keep laughing at Wayne County when the bus pulls up then do nothing. Hire Daryl Carter. Just go build an annex for NEJ while you’re at it on Al Smith’s property because that’s all it seems to be with Wayne County athletics right now.
