He is a good coach though. Well don't leave us hanging

Chunky6617
I won’t name drop just because it’s not official, but the guy that’s at the front of the list has been mentioned already in this topic, and has had a lot of small school success. That should pretty much narrow it down for yall.

Giving it a thought Waynesboro might be a little closer to Heidelberg than Raleigh is. His mom had passed away during 22 championship run and there was rumor he wanted get closer to his dad. You can't blame him there. I really think it comes down to who Hathorne wants. At least it seems like he will fight for his preferred choice. At least it seems like he will fight for his preferred choice. That fat dunghill only mouths off to old disabled people and the only thing he would fight is the last spoon full of white breakfast gravy. His meddling days are winding down like a weed sprayed with roundup. In all seriousness . Mitch Evans would be great for Wayne County. Nothing is for sure but look to the basketball coach as the direction it will go in. If Reynolds people try to force him on everyone those bumpkins are going to get exposed the same way I did Bubba Hathorne. At first no one knew . Now everyone does. If Hal Smythe wasn't such a small frail husk I would have confronted him the other day. Edited January 28 by slicklizard

Wareaglefan1us
Coach Hankins just resigned effective date June 31. Principal Bubba Hathorne just announced retirement effective end of school year. My understanding is they are going ahead with the process to hire new coaches so he can get here

slicklizard
Coach Jack Hankins has gotten a lot of grief from me over the last few seasons, Looking back I really don’t think he knew what he was getting into. He came in with a wary eye cast on him by many including me. His entire time the teams he put out only got worse season over season. He wasn’t prepared to deal with the level of competition he faced in South MS.He looked over our history and thought the talent gap was the reason. I have said it before most everyone in the pine belt has the same level of talent. Coaching is the reason the top teams are at the top.. They also cut funding and his assistant coaches every year. He had a good heart and I think he genuinely wanted to play at a high level he just didn’t know how to do it. When winning is way down the list of his bosses he kept the football team in line and run off many that they thought might cause trouble.. He stayed one for sure maybe two seasons to long/ He’s now the face of WC’s worst seasons in the last 25 years maybe ever . I haven’t looked. The lions share of that blame goes to his boss Bubba Hathorne, He forced a complete philosophy change to some version to a wing offense because we hounded him and he was going to show us. He failed yet again. He’s retiring, at least that’s the good face they are putting on it. Goodbye Coach Hankins. It couldn’t have been a worse fit but I believe you did your best
slicklizard
Now move into the future, Bring Tracey Lampley back home. The most important thing that has to be done is get the youth players on the high school team . He's the man that will re build that pipeline, He's young and has the energy to put in hard work He has my full backing .

I think Lampley is a great coach with great character and will be a very successful head coach one day. However, I don’t know if he is ready for a job of that magnitude, and I’m not sure if he has ever even called a play. I think with the current state of the WC program, you need to find someone that is from or has ties to the community, understands the COUNTY, and has head coaching experience. I agree with you on it not being Reynolds. He won with Pierson’s team. I think Carter would be a decent fit, but I’m not sold one how good of a coach he actually is, or has he just won because of the talent gap. I think Kevin Gandy would be a good fit now that he has a few years of head coaching experience under his belt, and it would right the wrong that Hathorne did. Mitch Evans would be a good fit. I wonder if WC would consider hiring another retired guy after the latest failure. Idk that’s just my two cents coming from a Greene County prospective

Idk that’s just my two cents coming from a Greene County prospective I just got off of the phone with Coach Lampley well he’s Tracy to me always will be. My daughter graduated with him and they were good friends and still are. But you are correct in a few things he was OC at Ocean Springs the Head Coach called the plays but definitely got Tracey’s input on the play calling and definitely had part in the game planning. He’s never been a HC but he’s forgotten more football than most of us know. He knows he will have to put together a good staff and he plans to do so. Look the young man is legendary to a lot of the young kids in WC. I believe they would line up to play for him he has to get a chance somewhere why not to bring his home school back to where it was. When you talk character there’s not a better young man out there. I’m sure he would love to talk to you and I think he would change your mind. If you’re interested private message me and I’ll ask before giving you his number but I’m sure he wouldn’t mind. If not now, then when and with who? This wouldn't fall all on him. He would have a staff as well, and I think he would have a good staff. This would be an opportunity for him to surround himself with experience. He doesn't and shouldn't have to hire a bunch of "Greene" assistants. There would be quality coaches in this state chomping at the bit to come coach for him.
Wareaglefan1us
You also mentioned Kevin Gandy he’s absolutely one of the best young Godly coaches out there. You are right he’s got a little experience now as a head coach he also would do a good job. Picture this the both of them working together I believe that’s a big possibility. They both would love a hand in rebuilding the program and there’s a lot of talent to work with. Personally I wouldn’t won’t to coach my home school lol. You have all your family and friends who think little Johnny is the best player and shouldn’t come off of the field. Lampley and Gandy will block that out and play to win. It doesn’t matter if they are playing marbles they want to be the best Edited January 30 by Wareaglefan1us
