PRC coming off their best regular season in years and an upset of Picayune last week. Hattiesburg coming in on a 7 game winning streak. How do you all see this playing out?

Other 6a south playoff matchups:

Terry at Pascagoula

George Co. at Picayune

Hancock at West Jones.

Feel free to talk about any of the matchups.

I think Goula can take this in a close battle. They seem to have picked up their game. Earlier they were the most underachieving team in the state but seems they've righted the ship

West Jones should win that one

I wonder who dropped the ball on the George Co-Forest Hill matchup. To have to make that trip twice because of a scheduling mix up is bad.

I was told there was apparently a bad wreck along the way and was going to take hours to clear which would prevent George from getting there on time and the game would start much later. So they moved it to Friday. Not sure how accurate the story is, that is just what I was told.

I agree with all of this.  If I had to nitpick this, I would say Hattiesburg wins by a larger margin but winning by 21 is definitely more than sufficient.

Hattiesburg should win comfortably. Picayune should cruise to a hot clock. West Jones by 14+. If the Goula team that has been playing the past month shows up, I like them to win comfortably as well. If they do not, then it could be Terry's night to play spoiler.

Terry has a RB who is committed to either Ga State or Ga Southern. Runs with power and hard to bring down. Not much of a passing game at all. And if Goula gets pressure on the QB he is gonna go down. He will try to pick up yards if he can but more often than not he will throw it away or take a dive

Looking at the Hancock yearly stats. My goodness, the QB Koenenn appears to be the whole offense.

1200 rushing and over 1900 yards passing. That's a lot for one player and over 10 games, he is averaging

300 per game total. Sounds like the West Jones defense should focus on stopping him.

Hancock definitely has a great QB, but if y’all can keep him under duress and keep him uncomfortable it should bode well for WJ.

West Jones will score as much as they can in this one. Even if there is a rolling clock they won’t stop.  Cory Reynolds has beef with Hancock’s head coach from the 2023 game. Like, he may put forward his best coaching job of the year in this one.

Need info on what happened in 2023. But FYI, the current coach at Hancock is in his first year there. He came from Greene Co. The coach he has a beef with is no longer there.

He's an assistant at Picayune now.

In the first round game in 23 west had the game in hand by halftime.  3rd a they were subbing in 2nd string with a mixture of starters. In the 4th it was 9th-10rh graders and suddenly Hancock started hurry up offense (with their starters), score, onside kick, score again, onside kick, score again, onside but west recovers. West puts starters back in. While shaking hands some comments were made back and forth that ended with Reynolds basically congratulating him for having fun trying to run over jr high kids and if there’s another opportunity in the future he will remember to leave his starters in and run the score to 60 or more.

So does this mean he'll have beef with Picayune by default?  Will Picayune be a victim of circumstance here?

I get it that Hancock kept the starters in. I am sure it was going to be the last time some of those players would ever put on that uniform again. But on the flip side of it if you are WJ you dont want to get any of your starters injured while its a blowout

It wasn’t that he kept the starters in. It was the obvious hurry up offense an repeated on side kicks. You don’t do that late 2nd half with a running clock. The whole point of the running clock is to get an already decided contest over.

Not sure what you mean by that, Hancock doesn't have the same coach as they did in 2023. Also, Hancock can have success against WJ secondary. Now, their defense stopping WJ is a different situation. IF they can get a couple stops, this game could get interesting if Hancock QB is on.

I get what y'all are saying but to just "give up" is kinda dumb too. Coaches owe it to the kids to fight for them and put their best foot forward. If Hancock had came back an won, then everybody would be talking about how much of a genius/good coach Lollar was. BTW, he's not the coach there anymore.

Especially since wests best guy in the secondary went down vs Hattiesburg and is done for the year.  They are down several other leaders as every injury west suffered this year seemed to be on defense.

What should we expect with George County Friday night?  I tend to think y'all will put up a dang fight.

I think it will be a hard nosed football game. GC is getting back to the physical football that it was known for. Two teams playing old school physical football. What it was meant to be.

Exactly.  I certainly don't want to get ripped off by a hot clock.  I want to see a full 48 minute battle from start to finish.

As long as I am on the winning side of a hot clock, I will take that every game. Keeps your blood pressure from skyrocketing. LOL. I do not see anyone getting the HOT CLOCK put on them in 6a south this week.
