West Jones @ South Jones

as to this game, I'm going with West Jones. The Laurel and Northeast Jones victories may not

have seemed impressive score-wise, but I have seen some areas where West will be more

effective, specifically on offense and the passing game. Last year, it was more or less, hand it

to the 230 lb running back. QB Lindsey was either out or playing with a bum arm and couldn't throw

it 15 yards. Not the case this year. And West coaches are notorious for holding back plays and formations

early in the year, until they need them later, and also limiting Lindsey from running to prevent an injury.

Defense does have some new faces, but also some veterans, so I expect them to only improve, barring injury.

Overall, I think South Jones actually has a more explosive offense than West Jones. Their QB has a good arm, and they have some receivers on the outside that are pretty talented. I think West will be a little more physical and they model their gameplan on wearing South down. I think West runs the ball a whole lot in this game especially with South having a pretty good secondary this year. Not saying they won't let Lindsey drop back and sling it every now and then, but if they want to win, I think they do it by playing physical football on both sides. Northeast almost beat South with that game plan, and I think West can execute that plan better, but I don't know if it will be good enough. Overall, it should be a heck of a game that will come down to the wire. Definitely a toss up, but I think South wins just slightly. If they are gonna beat West, this is the year.

Yall are really counting out Brookhaven. They just beat MC. IDC what yall say, Brookhaven will NOT be blown out.

I’d love to be proven wrong, but history tells a different story.  I’m honestly not surprised that Brookhaven beat Madison Central.  If Brookhaven does manage to come out of 5A South, maybe they can get lucky and face someone different out of the North.  In order for Brookhaven to win another state title, that would seem to be the best path to take.

Brookhaven did return almost their entire team. And Madison central is looking, like stsrkville, to be fairly j sr rated this year.  Brookhaven will win south 5A but West Point is likely the legit number 2 team in the state, also returning a bunch from last year, so they should win 5A.
