Interesting.  Some schools do the midnight practice on Fridays to cheat the system.

How is it cheating the system? I guess if its 1am on a saturday morning and you happen to be up at that time you still consider that as a Friday night.  LOL

You got offended by a figure of speech?  Maybe I should have said buck the system.  I don't care if teams do it.  I am asleep at midnight.  The misshaa has very vague rules when it comes to Saturdays and Sundays.

Not offended at all. BTW its not bucking the system either. If something is allowed to start on a certain day, the moment the clock hits 1201am its a go. What kind of rules are vague when it comes to Saturdays and Sundays? A lot of athletic activities are being played on Saturdays from now until the end of the 2026 school yr.

What is wrong with it? Some teams make it a annual things and teams take pride in it. "Team-building stupidity?" Whats your point there?? Not every school has the same culture. Some take pride in things like that. Explain how using it as team building is stupid?

Opinions are like elbows. Most folks have at least one.

The first week needs to be in short and shells but Saturday doesn't count as part of the week.  That is bucking the system.  Again I don't care, but lets not pretend this isn't a loophole in the rule.  Also when we were doing games during August at 7:30, you could play at anytime on Saturday, which was another loophole.  In other sports that play more than one game per week like baseball or softball, you aren't allowed to play but l believe 3 games from Monday through Friday, but you can play 100 games on Saturday because that doesn't count as part of the week.  The misshsaa doesn't really police the weekends.  It could be a wild west show if school did whatever they wanted on those days.

So, the MHSAA states that it's M-F. Technically, Saturday is a real gray area. Could be wrong. Could be fair game. Not sure.

I believe that for the sake of the heat acclimation rule that the the first two weeks of shorts are M-F. After that 10th day of shorts you are free for full pads. We always had a full gear scrimmage on the Saturday morning following that last day of shorts and shoulder pads

First week is Helmets only, could go helmets and shoulder pads on that first Saturday.

2nd week is helmets and shoulder pads only. Even if you go on Saturday you don’t get to go full pads after five days but have to go the whole week in shells only. So the first day of full pads would be the Saturday after the second week.

so 10 days of practice at a minimum before full pads.

The old rule was 5 days of practicing and then full pads. 2 days helmets, 3 days shells, 6th day full pads.
