I am honestly shocked LSU is going to make it back around to another Skenes start, but here we are. They have all the momentum and the best pitcher in college baseball throwing tomorrow. Wake’s ace is excellent too, but hard to not feel like LSU is taking this one and setting up a 2017 finals rematch.

Both pitchers are great, but LSU has the best hitting team at this point.   Wake has yet to score more than 3 runs, and some of their top guys are having a bad CWS.  That’s not good when you’re about to face what some call the best college pitcher ever.

Wake has looked very uncomfortable at the plate the whole CWS. Don’t know if it’s the big stage or this park playing much bigger than their home park or what. But they have definitely struggled for a team with as much pop as they have.

I don’t want to discredit Lowder for Wake Forest. They are 18-0 this year in games he’s pitched. If not for Skenes he’d be getting a lot more hype nationally. But I trust LSU’s offense against Lowder more than I trust Wake against Skenes.

Florida has to be loving all this. They will be extremely fresh on the mound and no matter the opponent will be playing somebody without their ace until at least Game 3. That said, I thought the same thing about Oklahoma last year against Ole Miss and it ended up not mattering.

I think there’s a huge difference in the size of the park for Wake Forest.   The announcers mentioned that their outfielders could have possibly been standing outside their outfield wall in one game.

Florida couldn’t ask for a better scenario.

LSU’s whole pitching staff, outside of their starter last night, has pitched well the entire CWS.

Dang!!!

LSU for the win!!!

Tremendous game by both teams!!!

Should be a great Finale. The optics favor Florida but can LSU keep the mojo going for two more games.

We shall see.

LSU has a lineup of guys who can go yard.   They were more likely to end it with a HR than Wake was.

LSU is getting big time play from their bull pen and other starters besides Skenes in the CWS.  It kinda reminds me of OM last year.

I’m pulling for Florida though.  They don’t have a starter like Skenes, nobody does really, but they matchup with LSU everywhere else.

I feel like if Florida is going to win it they need to win the first two games. They’re not beating Skenes in a Game 3.

Waldrep has been phenomenal for UF in the postseason, I like their chances in Game 2 with him. The key comes down to Game 1 for me. Sproat and Waldrep are a really good 1-2 punch, but neither of them are Skenes.

If it goes to a game 3 Skenes may start but he wont go more than 3 innings. Just not enough rest. But I can see him coming in relief in the 7th inning to close it out.

That’s what I was wondering.  He’d have 3 days rest.

A lot will depend on how LSU’s other pitchers do.  They were a question mark going into the CWS, but have played well above expectations.

State started both Harding and Bednar on 3 days rest during the 2021 Finals. Ole Miss absolutely would’ve done it with Delucia last year if necessary. I’ll be shocked if Skenes wouldn’t start a potential game 3.

Did Jordan transfer? I believe Alford did. Not just baseball, but are we basically in a situation with NIL where guys are going to open up bidding for their service at the end of every season?

Jordan withdrew his name from the portal. Alford did announce his commitment to Georgia though. The rumor was that Jordan was following Alford to UGA, but that doesn’t appear to be happening as of now.

One thing about Lemonis that I appreciate is that he does not overthrow his pitchers. Bednar did throw the Championship Game on three days rest but during the season Lemonis kept all the pitchers on strict pitch counts and he especially was conservative with Sims.
As a result, those guys were fresh in the postseason and were able to pitch more often and for more innings in the postseason especially in the CWS.

Whereas we have seen other coaches over throw their pitchers and cause an injury from fatigue.

If it goes to game three, I would think Skenes would pitch but only throw a certain number of pitches.

17k’s for Floyd.  LSU is practically unbeatable when they get the pitching they have lately to go with Skenes and that hitting lineup they have.

Yeah they’re in great shape to win it all now. I think Florida can win today with Waldrep but it’s not a given. I would give LSU a clear edge in a Game 3.

LSU has totally changed the narrative on their pitching in Omaha. Skenes is a legend but if they win it all, it will be just much because of their other pitchers. Which was not the case at all in the regular season. They’ve come a long way since dropping two games to State in Baton Rouge.

LSU regular season pitching finally shows up.  13-3 in the 7th

Who does Florida have left to pitch?   Of course their starter today only went just over 2 innings and walked 5 or 6.

Caglianone is their #3 starter so I’m guessing he gets the nod tomorrow. He can be pretty wild though, but their bullpen is mostly fresh.

I kind of wonder if this is going to be shades (though slightly different) of 2021, Vandy won the first inning of the first game but then State won the next 26 innings.

LSU was due for a bad game and it happened in a big way. Two things can happen. FL continues momentum from today and beats Skenes and whoever else LSU throws tomorrow.

Or LSU flushes this game and comes back to win game three.

My gut is telling me that Florida is going to win tomorrow night. LSU has been on a great roll but what happened today especially after having the early lead with all the momentum on their side is going to be (IMO) too much to overcome. Kind of a reversal of what happened in HBG with UT grabbing to momentum in the second game and then just dominating game three.
