Oral Roberts going to Omaha. That’s awesome.

LSU wrapped up a spot too. After some struggles toward the end of the year, they have steadied the ship. It kinda feels like we are trending toward a massive clash of the titans between LSU and Wake Forest on one side of the bracket, and then Florida potentially waiting for the winner in the Finals. Though TCU and Virginia are playing extremely well too.

I hope USM can win tonight but I doubt it. Tenn has too many arms. Will Montgomery pitch tonight for Stanford?

I hate to say it, but USM is toast today. Tennessee has too much pitching left and their bats have come alive. Moving ahead though, the winner today gets LSU in the first game of the CWS. LSU looks like they have gotten it all together right now. They are my pick to win it all

If USM doesn’t win tonight, blowing a 4-0 lead with Tanner Hall on the mound yesterday is a tough pill to swallow. It’s been kind of interesting with Hall this postseason, he is their best guy and USM’s two losses were both games he started. Can’t blame it all on him certainly, but it’s an interesting note.

I do agree that UT seems to have the advantage going into tonight. USM will have to have some guys step up in a huge way. I tend to think Tennessee’s remaining pitching is better than USM’s and I think that propels UT to a win.

I like Stanford over Texas in the other Game 3 tonight. If Stanford loses then they only have themselves to blame, they totally gave away the first game on Saturday.

Regarding LSU, you feel like they’re a shoe in to be in the winner’s bracket just because of Skenes in Game 1. If they’re able to stick around long enough for him to make a second start, they’re just going to be incredibly tough to beat. You do have to give some of their other pitchers credit, they have been improved in the postseason. They don’t need a ton from their #2 and #3 guys with that offense, but they’ve gotten enough recently. If that continues, yeah, they are for sure one of the favorites.

Not gonna lie, the prospect of some Wake Forest vs LSU showdowns in Omaha is super intriguing to me.

Well, Tennessee certainly has a lot more pitching left, but you can only put 1 guy out there at a time.

As for the starters, Mazza and Beam look pretty even to me. There is much more pressure on Mazza though to give

USM as many innings as possible tonight. With all the options Vitello has in pen, it will be interesting to see how

quick his hook will be in a win-all game, if things are tight. It can come back to bite you, if you go to a guy that just

doesn't have it that day.

The "Who Dats in Rosenblatt" will be absolutely crazy.  Them LSU fans are in Omaha even when LSU ain't there.

USM has got to play clean defense today. Errors were critical yesterday. You just can’t give a team extra runs in a SR game.
TN has the advantage with momentum and deeper pitching but for some reason I think USM guts out a win tonight after giving everyone several heart attacks. Everything points to a UT win but I think USM finds a way to win.

I like your take here and I hope you're right.

As much pitching as Tennessee has left, if so miss lets Tennessee put up a couple of crooked numbers on the board Tennessee will win going away. So Miss will not win an 11-10 type of game. If they can hold Tennesse to 5 or less they will have a chance.

Vott, the only way that Tennessee can put up crooked numbers is if USM has a complete pitching meltdown.  I think South Mississippi boys are accustomed to South Mississippi heat.  If Tennessee wins, they win, but it won't be without a fight.

Stanford beats Texas in an all time brutal finish. Walked it off via routine fly ball lost in the lights.

Looking bleak for USM, Tennessee up 4-0 going to the 7th. Just nothing going offensively tonight. UT pitching has largely dominated them since the middle of Game 1.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen that end a game before.

A couple of batters prior, Stanford hitter jacked a ball to left, thought it was going to be HR. Ball it hit the base of the wall and he almost got thrown out at 2B.

Congratulations to USM on a very good season. They beat UT for one and half games but then UT woke up and just dominated the next one and half games. That play by the 3B yesterday seemed to turn the whole momentum of the game. USM was up 4-0 with no outs and that one outstanding defensive play changed the whole game and series.

Well I was wrong. I thought that USM would find a way but UT was the better team. 3 SEC teams are in Omaha and all three are capable of winning it all. Though, I think FL or LSU ends up the champion this year.

What are y’all’s thoughts on Bama’s hire?

Probably as good a guy as they could pull. He's won the Big10 the last couple years which will mean absolutely nothing in the SEC. It'll come down to 1 thing.......recruiting at a higher level than Bama baseball normally does.

That, plus keeping the interim HC on staff is a big win for Bama.

Your opening round matchups in Omaha:

Oral Roberts vs TCU

Virginia vs Florida

Stanford vs Wake Forest

Tennessee vs LSU

That is a STRONG field. The bottom half of the bracket in particular is brutal. This is a rare year where there weren’t many significant upsets and the majority of the best/most talented teams have made it to the end. 5 of the Top 8 seeds made it to Omaha, and Tennessee and TCU teams that were highly ranked in the preseason. Sets up a really compelling CWS.

I am sticking with my pick of Florida over Wake in the finals, but I think you can make a case for everyone outside of Oral Roberts, who is an awesome team but I don’t think they have the pitching to keep winning at this stage.

The CWS is going back to the older format where the games start Friday. And the championship series will begin the following Saturday. Really puts a premium on pitching depth. Starts one day earlier and ends two days earlier if the championship series goes three games.
Obviously, staying in the winners is important but for the teams starting on Saturday, you could play games Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday if you fall into the losers bracket. That could make it very difficult to come back and win the bracket.
