I hate this seven class system. They have watered down 5A so bad but all you can do is play who is in front of you. I mean that with no disrespect to anyone I actually believe our region is pretty solid. But overall 5A is pretty weak

I kno I'm late but I hate 5A. It's very watered down but we all kno this is a money grab for MHSAA. I honestly don't kno who in the North will be a test for us. Not saying that in a cocky way or anything. Lafayette has had their opportunity and failed. Not sure what Clarksdale is bringing to the table. Outside of those 2 teams our region sucks IMO

Really 10 games is fine and still having a bye week is good since everyone can use a small break sometimes. Now that 7 classes are a reality, maybe only take the top 2 teams out of a region again from 1A to 4A? That takes a week off the playoff grind and makes them more competitive.

Years back an assistant principal told me one reason the start date kept getting pushed back up is for schools who are on a 4X4 block so allow for state testing to take place in December without the distraction of football. I'd say that's probably a reason why now.

I think most of us can agree the season kicks off too early and should be pushed back, but we can probably all agree virtually none of these decisions are made with the actual kids in mind.

Season needs to start the Friday of Labor Day Weekend.

High School Football Friday Night

Dove Hunting Saturday morning

College Football Saturday afternoon/evening.

A perfect way to celebrate the Holiday and start football season.

Football games should never be played in August unless the Friday of Labor Day falls on the 29th, 30th or 31st of August.

Wonder if football start date will change due to more and more schools going to a year-round school year?

Doubtful. They are going to make sure the high school season is over before the start of the Christmas Holidays. and for that to happen the state championships will have to be the first week of December.  MS/AL 2nd week of December and the North/South game the 3rd week of December. And playing 10 or 11 games starting in the last week of August makes that work out perfectly. If anything the season would move up by one week. You will not have football during Christmas Break or in January for high school

Or go back to 2 schools per region in the playoffs. That cash cow will go flat.

Vancleave is our big season finale. Only thing that would round this district out would be Northeast Jones.   This is kind of like the time MS went to six classes. Same teams too.

No more crying about the labor pains this season.

I’m ready to see the baby

A correction needs to be made on your schedule as I believe your 8th opponent is Stone, not Stone County.

Is this kind of like when Prince changed his name to the artist formerly known as Prince. He became just some kind of symbol.

Maybe just put this by the date

Labor Day will never fall in August since it is always the first Monday in September; however, I agree with you on starting gameplay the weekend after Labor Day.
