Why did PRC turn chicken?

That's the million dollar question LOL!  I'm not in the loop so I honestly don't have an idea why, but it's now an open date that we can now fill with Oak Grove since they've got an open date that week as well.  I would also figure that PRC is also foregoing the game we were scheduled to play in Carriere next year as well, so we would obviously need to return the favor and play at Oak Grove next year.

I’d love to see us play Picayune again. But based on our non conference schedule I don’t foresee them filing that bye week . We’re gonna need it.

I do not think Oak Grove wants to see a running attack. Picayune is far more athletic than John Curtis and OG had fits stopping them last year

Well I guess we may be in the same boat then because objectively speaking our non-conference schedule is probably just as difficult, but since we'll both be at home that week why not line up and play a football game.

Doesn’t this give you guys 2 open dates now ?

No, just 1.  They filled that previous opening with Catholic High out of BR.  We just have a void now in the PRC game slot and it just so happens y’all have an open date that Friday night as well.

Here’s the thing:  Picayune and Oak Grove need to get on the phone with one another and work out a home and home series for the next two years because Picayune is in need of another home game this fall since we don’t have a 5th home game currently.  Picayune can then turn around next year and give y’all an additional home game that you weren’t necessarily planning on having.  That sounds like a win-win to me regardless of outcomes on the scoreboard.

It’s a good idea in theory. And I have no intel as to why we have the open date that we do but I just assume with us having 5 games plus a jamboree and the fact that we’re traveling to Hoover this year they placed that open date specifically for rest before district play. But I could be wrong.

This decision will have bad consequences for other sports as well. This is really a CS move not only being homecoming its also was the biggest gate of the year along with the other sports. Really big 🤑. This leaves Maroon Tide  with only 4 home games. At least Poplarville canceled early on to allow Picayune to make other arrangements. This is sad.

PRC really 💩 the 🛏️ with their decision to opt out.  They obviously didn't think about the financial consequences of cancelling a home and home with Picayune.  It's kind of a cowardly move in my book, but I guess they think it will just get swept under the rug.  Those cats are stuck in a rut they will never get out of.

Watch PRC fill that date with an opponent they have a good chance of beating. Oh, never mind. They not beating anybody.

Its highly likely that they will fill that date with a  lower classification opponent. My sources tell me that Picayune reached out to Oak Grove and it was decided that it would be a brutal game and both teams pre district games are not cupcakes. I think the new coach was put in a bad situation.

some of my inside sources say they are in the works with scheduling Hattiesburg

That attempt at humor is laughable and  I think they are already on the schedule.

A bad situation for a new coach coming in would be someone telling him what to do.  If that is what you are referring to, then yes it makes perfect sense.

shows how much you know about the upcoming season.

If that game does take place, they would probably just drop the Hattiesburg/ Laurel matchup and replace it with Hattiesburg/ PRC. I would say it has huge potential to be a bigger rivalry and draw in more people
