Schools not only have to consider the matchup.. but also the gate. You could schedule a West Point versus a Picayune type of game... but how many people are going to travel each way to watch it in the age of live streams?

PRC just played in the region with Forest Hill and Terry.  Germantown isn't really that much further.  When you talk about Tupelo (pre-edit) vs. Picayune, that's not feasible.  That's why you don't see it.  We just scheduled Brandon these last two years for a home-and-home series and we've also scheduled Madison Central for a home-and-home before as well.

That wasn't actually directed at anyone.. My whole point was that just because people have open dates, it doesn't make a matchup feasible.

I know we are changing our non-district opponents next year because while they were interesting matchups.. they had an awful gate for both schools. The cost of the away game, food, buses, and fuel wasn't covered by the gate of the next year at home.

When there is no football game, there is no gate.  When Oak Grove played Hoover or when Winona played Zachary, that wasn't feasible?  Didn't Choctaw Central play Cherokee at Cherokee?  Even though it was in North Carolina, didn't Choctaw Central win?  Sometimes the experience is well worth the expense.

Po' pitiful Madison Central.  All them bricks got you bankrupt?  Switch to old school Masonite.  That crap lasts forever.

At probably 75-80% of schools in Mississippi, profits from football funds every other sport. You not only lose money for Football you lose it for the other 20 - 25 sports that use those funds. If you think it's worth wasting money for your coach to stroke his ego, Go for it. "Experience" isnt paying for referees, uniforms, food, fuel, workers, electricity, maintainance, stipends, and everything else these schools have to pay for. It's easy to sit here and criticize when as a fan, you don't have to worry about how every sport gets funded.

Seems like your feelings got hurt. Again, that wasn't directed at any school in particular so I'm not sure why you've got your panties in a wad. But feel free to keep lashing out if you need to.

Let me phrase it a different way so you don't take it personally. Just because Long Beach and Desoto Central have the same off week. It's not feasible for them to play. There are over 200 schools to choose from. Pick a decent opponent that will give both teams a good gate and be profitable.

Ahhh...now we're getting somewhere.  Would a Picayune-Germantown matchup suit you better?  I'd have no problem with that and it appears that would check off all your boxes as well.  Who wouldn't want to see that matchup in person?

It might to their fanbases. I dunno. It didn't mean much to the Brandon fans who were at our place last year and we were at their place this year. Most said they weren't driving to the coast for a game they really didnt care about. That being said, they probably still had over 1,000 fans go. We had the same sentiment from our own fans about Gulfport. It was a good game but it's not any kind of rivalry any of our fans care to see. I have my own personal list of who I'd like to play but I don't get a vote.

Cherokee and Choctaw Central basically play every year.

Raleigh plays Mize week 4

Let me back up, I think Raleigh would have week 1 open, week 5 open, and 1 opening in October. The October opponent probably goes to who is open on a date R5 3A, 6 2A, 5 2A, 5 4A, 6 4A, 8 2A, and possibly 8 3A. I dont think we go to SW Mississippi except in play offs. Maybe an MAIS opponent.
