Laurel was huge along the defensive line and it gave our offensive line problems. Hopefully we'll get things cleaned up this week and will be better prepared for West Jones. Also, there's been times this year where Picayune didn't light up the scoreboard but their defense was their calling card. I personally think last years OL was better for Picayune. Dowdell breaks a lot of tackles in the backfield which is one reason why he is so good. He's hard to get down on first contact. West Jones will be a tough out. Should be a good game but anyone hoping for a Picayune blowout may want to rethink things. Doesn't mean it won't happen. You aint questioned anything Cody Stogner has done up till this point, but you go 1 game against a DANG good team without scoring 40 points and now lets just act like the playcalling was a problem? Man you aint got not a lick of a clue as to what his rhyme, reason, or method was to what he called. Just enjoy the game, be a fan, and enjoy winning. I can't wait for Picayune to win a playoff game 17-10 and then see the fans calling for Cody's head on here! I'm not replying to your post to argue with you because I think your post is quite funny and I don't care if you pay any attention to what I post or not. I never said playcalling was a problem, but that it could be better. No one is calling for Cody's head and I don't think you quite understand where I am coming from. If we beat West Jones 17-10 I'll be ecstatic on Friday. If my post offended you then so be it. What I saw on Friday night was cause for concern and if I'm not allowed to post my opinions on a public message board, then how should I express them? Should I just keep them to myself? I won't speak for all of us but I think he has done a phenomenal job. Still, we fans are saying what we saw and what we expect could happen this week based on what we saw. if you dont like it you can go pound sand. all of the Picayune fans on here are supportive of the staff and the players. I have a feeling you were not at the game and didn't see it. I btw drove 10 hours to see that game. Find it, watch it, and educate yourself. if you did see it or don't think we would have performed better had we opened up the offense then you are an idiot. #4 had one carry (a 1st down on a reverse). If that means nothing to you then you dont know our team. you are correct that nobody on here knows what the coaching staff was seeing and why they were calling what they did. obviously they know more about what is going on both with the team, the players, and on the field during the game than we do. a lot of times they run the same play over and over until they can get the defense to adjust the way they want them to for another play. we get that. they also repeat plays that we are not executing properly until we do it right. However, when you are executing but still getting beat then you adapt or you get the same results. period. we see what we see and say we we want about it.That's not changing. and if you don't like it thats too bad for you. while you are at it go watch the state championship game from 2019 and the playoff loss in 2020. if you don't learn from history you are damned to repeat it. Us Picayune fans love our football team and coaches. We have been watching these boys since their peewee days. We had a off night Friday night on offense but we still won the game comfortably. We know what this team is capable of doing and for some of us fans to be a little concerned about our next playoff game is not a bad thing. David44 Posted November 15, 2022 Share Posted November 15, 2022 Yes, the senior QB came back. He had 2 TD passes roughly 40 yards each. Looked pretty good and even ran the ball a little, took some hits. I guess the collarbone is ok. WJ certainly a different offense with him as opposed to the 9th grader, but I will say that freshman is going to be a pretty good QB given some time to grow. West Jones has always had a really good team and very athletic and also wll coached. We have really good team and some great coaches. Like I said in earlier post I just dont think we showed our hand. David44 Posted November 15, 2022 Share Posted November 15, 2022 I think we are going to see a game that is dominated by 2 really good defenses. Picayune this year and in the past has scored so many points that no one talks about their defense. Throw out the Gautier game and they have given up 81 points, or roughly 7 points a game. That's elite. Gautier is going to do that to most teams, Irving is that good and HS teams just don't see and can't stop a really good passing attack. WJ, if you throw out the MC opening game, has given up roughly 9 points a game. They normally rely on the defense more than Picayune and this front 7 is one of their best I've seen and they are finally healthy. A turnover or special team mistake that results in a short field could be huge in this game.
