It’s a fair point any coast program can be just as good as the teams in region 3 when they take it serious. Moss Point dominated for years when they would eat sleep and breathe football. The community and the school has to really want it.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t fully confident OG will win but we do have a tendency to start slow. But when we start fast you’ll look up and you’re down 4 scores. There’s no In between with us really

Man listen…. If that was the end all be all, you wouldn’t have had to settle for this last head coach in the first place. Petal is a good job but it’s not exactly a no brainer move compared to the other 7a programs in the state. And Petal might have the least amount of talent out of the big 3 in the pine belt to work with.

Sounds like GC was a sloppy team if you have to take away all of that. They deserved to be eliminated

I just watched OG vs Petals 9th grade… the talent gap right now between the two schools is pretty significant

OG is playing much better defensively than they were earlier in the year. It’s like a switch went off after that Brandon game. Especially the defensive line. Hoping we make a statement this week. Pearl has the ability to make the game much closer with Brandon This time around. It actually was a pretty decent game the first time but I believe Brandon had a kid go off for 3 or 4 touchdowns . Both are rivalry games so anything can happen but I expect OG and Brandon to meet for yet another south state rematch.

I knew that Gulfport Pearl game would be close. Gulfport was just the higher seeded team and probably the better team in theory if you ask anyone on the coast. But if you actually watch both teams they were pretty even from a talent standpoint. I never thought OS had enough on offense to beat Brandon or OG down the stretch. Just my opinion.

As far as next week goes… just like old times indeed. I’m curious to see how much Daniel Hill has left in the tank because he’s really dinged up from what I can tell. It’ll be up to your defense to get plenty of stops. OG seems to have put it all together down the stretch as we so often do. We’ll need to continue playing a complete game and not let Meridian stick around. Seen that movie way too many times.

I watched the entire game. OS lost the turnover battle that they usually win. As good as their defense is… their offense just didn’t have the capability to push the ball down field and put pressure on the bank end of Meridian’s defense. Meridian did a very good job keeping everything in front of them.

Oak Grove is humming right now. We’ll see.

Without getting into an argument about Geography … historically Picayune plays a much more physical brand of football than most teams on the coast. OS beating OG last year was an anomaly compared to most seasons.

I agree. It amazes me how much teams gift wrap turnovers against OS in the games I watch. They’re certainly an opportunistic bunch. I’m rooting for Daniel Hill to get some playoff success before it’s all over. He’s been the face of that program the last 4-5 years through the ups and downs and he’ll be the best player on the field Friday.

Clinton has way too much talent to be what they were this year. I also expected Laurel to be much better. But hell they still could win 5a south.
