There’s summer practice all summer. It’s weird though because they recommend 20 practices before the first game. Well it’s pretty much impossible to get 20 practices in by august 26th if you don’t start until the 1st or 2nd week of august.

Mount olive is not expected to be very good this year, but they got a couple tough 2A games I know of

And what crazy is, Magee just flat out fired their baseball coach because he wanted to hire someone else. Didn’t terminate his teaching contract, just his baseball coaching position. All because he wanted somebody else. And now the guy won’t release this football coach.

Well he is from Mount Olive. He lived in mount olive, went to school at Mize, and has coached at all the schools I mentioned. Very well liked coach across the state, really good teacher. Cares about his students and players. Been coaching close to 20 years. He has won 7 state championships as an assistant coach. This was his first opportunity to be a head coach, and the principal at Magee (Bill Broadhead) is single handedly blocking it from happening. The superintendent approved it, so I have been told, but the principle is blocking it.

He was at Taylorsville before Magee. He’s coached at Lumberton, Mendenhall, Mount Olive, Taylorsville, and Magee. As an assistant coach he has won 7 state championships. This would be his first head coaching job, and probably a $20,000 raise that would better his family. But Magee will not release him from his contract. He is a well respected coach in the state, very well liked, so many other coaches are blasting Magee and it’s administrators on social media right now for how they are handling this.

Well trust me they are getting hammered on social media, by other coaches and administrators. Definitely not a good look for Magee.

From what’s floating around on social media, a new hire was made, but currently is being held in limbo because the coach who was hired is not being released from the school he is currently at. This coach has been a lifetime assistant coach, with close to 20 years experience in Mississippi high school football. This would be his first head coaching job, and would give him a very nice raise, but his current school, MAGEE HIGH SCHOOL, will not agree to release him from his contract.

I mean 2nd game of the preseason jamboree. Each team in the Raleigh jamboree will play two games.

Taylorsville will be ok. Not that great, but not bad. They should easily make the playoffs, but I doubt they can beat bay springs for the region. They will have a tall athletic freshman QB who has some real potential. Nothing like Ty keyes was as a freshman, but plenty talented. I have coached against him every year in youth football since he was 7 years old. The issues with the school I really really hope get fixed. I think they are hiring a 3rd principal now to help get things fixed over there. They had to do that Raleigh a few years ago and it seemed to help so I’m sure they are hoping the same happens at Tville. Football wise, they are looking at being a little down from what they are used to. But dropping to 1A will help them, and if bay springs moves back up to 2A that will make things even better for them

That is correct. They still have a job opening on their staff I believe.

Well that must mean Raleigh is not going to play Scott Central or Taylorsville. Raleigh is playing Mize as well, so EC would be their 2nd game. Mize is playing Raleigh and Tville for their 2 games. Is Enteprise playing Scott Central or Taylorsville for their 2nd game?

Yes it was. But if I’m not mistaken, they just did away with that decision didn’t they? Or was that decision dependent upon whether or not mount olive and collins consolidated?

If Covington county schools takes away the bus route from Hopewell to Seminary like they talked about doing, that may hurt seminary down the road.

No it was their senior class that was loaded. Their junior class was good, and so was their sophomore class. But their senior class was the class that was undefeated in 6th grade until they lost in the playoffs. Raleigh will be good from 8th grade on up next season. But their senior class next year was the really good pee wee group. They did lose to Scott central however. Scott central won it all that year. Beat meridian in the state championship game

Mancuso always wins, every year. Not every school is a flash in the pan like enterprise. Some schools reload every year. JDC will always be a winner as long as mancuso is there.

3A south will likely run through Raleigh or JDC. Raleigh will lose quite a bit after this season but they will still be good. They have some good underclassmen, and they likely will drop to 2A. So they will be a contender for a while. Them and Mize being in the same region at least for a little while will be fun.
