The great thing about Russell Mitchell is that he creates his own success by doing his own thing. He doesn't need influence from previous coaches that he has worked with to accomplish that. That's why he will do great things at Germantown.
-
Well it will probably happen more frequently now. They definitely have the right man at the helm that's for sure.
-
So why do you think Germantown is much improved from last year? Is it players, coaching or a little bit of both?
-
It's all good Brick, I just had to see if I caught you napping LOL! I think y'all will be in for a dandy Friday night. I know Germantown will be the underdog, but Russell will have those boys ready to play. He knows what he is doing and he has already made a huge difference at Germantown and hasn't finished a whole season yet. He knows that if he's going to beat Madison Central that he'll have to do it as an underdog anyway. I wish there wasn't a geographical oddity or else I'd be there Friday night.
-
Great observation there Brick. I don't think anyone can disagree with that. Now I need you to do me a huge favor. Make sure Germantown gets a W Friday night LOL!
-
My goodness. I think y'all will be just fine. That's a big size advantage for De La Salle. That loss will help y'all out in the long run though.
-
If Germantown pulls off a win over Madison Central Friday night and then beats Starkville the next week, it won’t matter the outcome against Tupelo. I think the key cog for Germantown is to beat Starkville. I think that Germantown-Madison Central game on Friday night has the potential to be a slobberknocker.

Well don’t we need Laurel to start losing some games so that they can miss the playoffs?
-
Do you think Germantown will make the playoffs? If so, that’s the power of Russell Mitchell LOL! (In lieu of Pine-Sol)
-
Vott - This must be a visual effect or something like that. None of these teams have more than two losses.
-
De La Salle must have been very good, but the gold ball man will use this game as a teaching moment. He learned what the weaknesses were and he will use the game from yesterday to correct them. Y’all are in good hands even in a loss because the losses are for a reason. That’s the great thing about Mancuso because when he loses a game, you don’t have to hit the panic button. He knows exactly what he is doing and those strategic losses will pay major dividends come playoff time.

We never could really get going offensively, the penalties were just atrocious, and we couldn’t stop the run or the pass on defense. They controlled t.o.p. for 2/3 of the game and everything seemed to work in their favor. It’s tough to win a ballgame when you don’t show up ready to play and you fail to execute and that’s exactly what we did.
-
Florence probably will LOL!
-
Well don’t let that loss get you down. I realize they were your opponent, but go ahead and tip your cap to those boys at Clarkdale. They did what y’all probably thought couldn’t be done and that’s the beauty of high school football. Y’all still dominate the series with them, but now it’s their time to shine and they’ve earned it.
-
My bad I forgot about all the different regions in 2A-4A, oh well. Y’all will start the playoffs a week before we will. All I have to say is God Bless whoever gets matched up with Jefferson Davis County.
-
So who gets the 1 seed then? Is it the folks that are playing De La Salle tomorrow?
-
Awesome! I know those Clarkdale boys are proud of that win and they should be. This is the reason right here that makes Mississippi High School football so fun. I wonder where I can go to get some Clarkdale Football merchandise? I wouldn’t mind having a sweatshirt or a hoodie with their sweet bulldog and crossbones logo on it. I would seriously rep that here in Picayune, no lie.
-
Glad Wayne County was able to pull away some.
-
Thanks for your reply there Bulldogs4. Hopefully we’ll get a win over Kentucky tomorrow. I really like the way we are playing right now.
-
Well maybe Clarkdale can be your crosstown rival now since y’all haven’t played Bay Springs in a couple of years.
-
Well this certainly aged well, didn’t it?
-
Quit beating a dead horse. It’s over with.
-
Go Clarkdale! Woohoo!
-
East Central is always a tough opponent for Picayune. It's like playing a mirror. We had our sophomore WB playing QB and that was a major difference in the game because it was something that East Central didn't prepare for and couldn't. If you're Picayune you take a 28-10 win over East Central every day of every year.

Enterprise, Mize, and Clarkdale. A three way Battle of the Bulldogs! Y'all should have a bulldog football tournament and she which Bulldog reigns supreme LOL!
