The thing is y'all didn't really struggle against us (consider this a compliment) and Picayune is as backyard as backyard football can get. I understand Hazlehurst has a good football team, but I don't see how they could come out on the winning side of this even on their best day.

That picture seems awfully out of place. Everybody is bundled up in a Lincoln like it's 20 degrees outside.

So Deonte, who do you think will face off for the 5A South State Championship this year? There's no wrong answers here, but what are your thoughts?

@Poundtherockand @JDCFANcan y’all give your honest assessment on this matchup and help clear the air/set the record straight on this one?

Ain’t no way Jefferson Davis County goes one and done in the playoffs. Mancuso wins this and wins big. Like at least by two touchdowns. He might have a bigger cushion than that.

Well one good thing is that playing Gautier should have prepared us for this situation. We’ll see how things play out Friday night.

That’s awfully sad. He still has plenty of gas left in the tank.

Good. Now he can go to a team who wants to win.

Hey if we beat Laurel 55-14, I’ll take that every day of every year for the next 5,000 years. I also don’t see Jefferson Davis County beating Hazlehurst by just one point. I think they’ll have a bigger cushion than that. I also don’t see Hattiesburg losing to Vancleave at D.I. Patrick. They’ve been too hot to get that cold so fast.

I like our chances if we can get back to establishing the run game. The air-raid works best when you can run the football successfully.

Don't feel bad about that Tib. I complained about the officiating .

Gautier has never made it past the 2nd round of the playoffs before. If they do that, they will make history as the first Gautier football team to get to the 3rd round. That would be a huge monkey off of Gautier's back right there. Let's hope and pray they'll have a better officiating crew if things get that far with both teams.

Mississippi State doesn't play Auburn at Jordan-Hare, they play in Starkville at Davis-Wade. State plays really well at home.

If this is the case then why don't they have the brackets completely filled out now? It's as if Hattiesburg beats Laurel, then Laurel is the 4th seed and if Laurel beats Hattiesburg, then Wayne County is the 4th seed. Why don't they just go ahead and pick a 4th seed and be done with it?

Yes I didn't understand why we didn't go for two either. We were literally on what Carey calls the 1 foot yard line.

Yes it definitely didn't make any sense there, but Picayune did what they had to do to get the stop first on defense then capitalize when it was their turn with the football. Gautier played a great game though and I'm glad Picayune got a test like this in before the regular season ended. If you don't face an offense like Gautier has week in and week out, it can be difficult to prepare for, but Picayune made the plays when they needed to and got the stop that they needed to put the game away albeit outside of regulation.

Yes it was nice meeting you as well. We will definitely have to meet up again. Hopefully soon though.

It's been a while since Picayune's stadium was that packed. That atmosphere surely helped Picayune overcome some of the intangibles out there last night. You had a little bit more room on the visitors side, but the Gautier folks showed up finally and made the visitors side look mostly full as well.

If they bring their officials with them, then yes they can have another good ballgame against us. I think Picayune will learn from this game and make the necessary adjustments to win a little bit more comfortably if they were to meet again.

Ha!

I see they got walloped 38-17. I guess they were content to end their season a week early.

I guess we’ll just have to bite the bullet then. LOL!

Well bring on the naders then.

Dang it, they lost?

What a great ballgame tonight. The penalty flags flew the whole night. Picayune didn’t help themselves by turnovers, but man what an atmosphere! Great job by Gautier tonight. Y’all have nothing to be ashamed of.
