As proud as I was by Meridian last week, I am equally embarrassed & disgusted tonight. Yes, Oak Grove is good, but Meridian was flat as a pancake all night. It was a repeat of the Pearl game two weeks ago. I really don't understand it. It seems a lot of Meridian's players really don't care. Getting beat is one thing, but sleepwalking thru a playoff game totally unacceptable. I said last week I thought this team was back but I was wrong. I'm afraid it's been so long since Meridian was a winning program, Boyles is going to have to completely re-teach this team how to compete and have pride in your effort.

I was at the game Fri. but never noticed Daniel on defense but his brother Dane plays defense. But it was raining so it was sometimes harder to see.

I wouldn't mind seeing Boyles play Daniel Hill selectively on defense too for this game.

Isn't it appropriate that the 7A quarterfinals are 4 of the biggest rivalries in the State.

i went to the first Meridian - Oak grove game and Oak grove could not stop Hill but Meridian could not stop oak groves passing game. It depends on if either team is able to improve its efforts in the first game. The real difference in the first game was Meridian turnovers. For Meridian to win it must eliminate turnovers and figure out a way to slow down Oak Grove's passing game. It not, it will be a long night for the wildcats.

I just got home from Ocean Springs and I must say that's the most inspired Meridian has played in 10 years or so. Daniel Hill put that team on his back and just refused to lose. The most important play of the game to me was just after Meridian had made a goaline stand at the 1 yd line early in the 4th Q. Meridian had a 3'rd and 10 at it's own one yd line. Daniel Hill ran around end and had a defender right in front of him to tackle him for a safety, yet Hill was able to get around him and run for another 50 yds. That play totally deflated Ocean Springs. It was nasty wet weather but one of the most enjoyable games i've attended in years. Even if we don't win next week, this game proves to me that Meridian is back. Boyles is a master motivator and leader.

Hill is definitely a man among boys but the rest of Meridian is pretty much boys. It's hard for one person to beat 11.

even if you win a championship now all you've really accomplished is being better than 23 other teams. With that many "champions" you really don't have a champion.

Only 5 classes with 36 in top class with four 9 team divisions with 4 in each making playoffs. And the other 4 classes divided equally with 8 districts each with top two in each district making playoffs

I don't think any team with a losing record in their own division should be able to make playoffs, no matter how many classes you have.

7 classes is absolutely terrible! So many blowouts this weekend in first round of playoffs where 2-8 teams are making the playoffs. Everything is so watered down.

What's with all the 40-0 halftime scores. WAY too many teams make the playoffs now with 7 classes.
