I remember one year Rummel came to Wayne County to play when Wayne Co had Benito Jones on the defensive line. I wanted to see what Rummel was like so I went to the game and sat on the visitor side. Before the game started some of the Rummel fans were joking about how bad they were gonna beat the little country team from Miss. Well once the game begin it was a different story. They could not block Benito Jones at all and he stayed in the Rummel backfield. Rummel was behind most of the game but finally pulled it out in the end when depth got the best of Wayne Co Same thing pretty much happened this year when Heidelberg went to Chattanooga to play the top ranked private school in Tennessee.

very dumb decision. Every team should have at least 7 district games, meaning 8 team districts. Have 4 districts in 6A and 5A, then divide the remainder among class 4 to 1. Georgia is way bigger than Mississippi and they only have 6 districts.

To know what Meridian used to be and what it is now is truly sad. That big old stadium that was once the center of the city on fall friday nights now seems like a mausoleum on friday nights. None of the numerous white alumni from years past go to the games any more. And it seems like the current student body couldn't care less about football. They have become a basketball school, just like the Jackson city schools. At this point I don't know if anything will change it.

I don't know but the 9th grade gym teacher could do a better job than Gandy has the past 2 years.

I haven't heard anything out of Meridian yet but man were they horrible the past two seasons. I don't see how they can allow him to continue.

all regions should have 8 teams with 4 making playoffs. So you could have 32 teams in top 2 classes then 64 in next 2 then 32 or more in smallest class until all schools are placed. 32 + 32 + 64 +64 + 32 =224 How many teams are there?

it was ex South Panola coach Ed Stanley that coached at Meridian. He was fair but not great there.

you hit the nail on the head! too many classes and too few teams in each division. Also under no circumstances should more than half the teams in a division make the playoffs. 8 teams per division with 4 making playoffs is the perfect size.

Hattiesburg could be rife for this one day as they make visitors walk right beside Hattiesburg tailgate area to get in the visitor side.
