I'll tell you something else Bulldog, I have been going to Meridian high games since the Mac Barnes days, but the last couple of years I've been sitting on the visitor side because as a white person, I no longer really felt welcome on the Meridian side. As a Meridian High alumni this breaks my heart but it is what it is now.

Boyles made the second round of the playoffs. Gandy will never sniff the playoffs at Meridian. He does not have a clue what he's doing as head coach. Any team with a pulse will beat him.

I went to Petal-West Jones game and while Petal did look pretty good, I was shocked at how bad West Jones looked, They looked small and slow and players were just giving up on plays over and over. Hard to judge Petal when it looked like West didn't even want to be there. I've never in my life seen West Jones subjected to a running second half clock because of their poor play.

The only people leaving Meridian for the County are mainly white. There are still plenty of black athletes in the school, but the problem is getting them off the streets on Friday nights and on the football field and then getting them coached to be able to be competitive in 7A. Boyles was able to do it, but Gandy is doing nothing but drawing a pay check. Pitiful!

when will the Meridian administration finally put Shelton Gandy out of his misery. He is one of the worst head coaches I've seen in a while.

Oh it's bad. I doubt they win another game this season. The coach is just drawing a pay check. Has not a clue what he's doing.

The reason I don't post as much is because my alma mater Meridian sucks *mod edit*! There used to be tons of Meridian fans on here, now almost none.

I'm afraid Oak Grove and Brandon are both gonna get embarrassed. I hope I'm wrong because it's not gonna reflect very well on Miss HS football. I remember in 1983, I was very young :), Meridian who was ranked #1 in Miss visited Montgomery Jeff Davis, who was ranked #1 in Alabama. Meridian won that night and boy was I impressed. Seems like about 15 years ago South Panola went to Hoover to play and both were top ranked. I don't remember who won.

I'm gonna be very interested in seeing how Oak Grove and Brandon do against top ten teams from Louisiana and Alabama.

Neshoba had successful 2 pt conversion to take lead taken off the board by Meridian refs. Then when Neshoba coach pitched a fit about it the refs gave them a 15 yd personal foul which caused the ex pt kick to be 40 yds. It was just short.

How bad must Newton be!

Well just imagine a Jackson City school and their football team. Lack of interest in football, lack of fan interest, mediocre coaching. On the other hand, imagine just the opposite at Madison Central or Brandon. Good coaching, lot's of fan support, high interest in football among the students. At one time, Meridian was like Madison Cent.and Brandon, now it's more like Callaway and Murrah.

Meridian High has turned into a Jackson city school. Basketball is really all that matters there anymore.

Meridian is terrible. I didn't expect much but man are they poorly coached. I doubt they win 3 games. And the scoreboard did not even work either. They were definitely not ready for prime time tonight.

Also, Georgia has more than 3 times the population of Mississippi but only 6 classes where Miss. has 7. Dumb!
