State won that game at the free throw line. 33 attempts for State, only 14 for Utah. And State made 73% of theirs, and was very good down the stretch.

Hubbard is Hubbard but State doesn’t win today without Keyshawn Murphy. 18 and 14 off the bench. Maybe his best game as a Bulldog.

I said last year he was a star in the making. And Kugel seemed to always kill us when he was at FL. I think he will be a good addition as well.
Lot of good pieces with this team.
We will see how they develop.
Tough road game coming up that will tell us a bit more about this team.

State is in the middle of their toughest nonconference stretch now. Next four games are SMU, UNLV, Northwestern/Butler, and Pitt, and only one of those is in Starkville or the state of MS. They do play Memphis and McNeese later as well but I think this now is the key stretch.

I think if you were offered 3-1 in the next four you take it all day. 2-2 wouldn’t be horrible either. True road game at SMU Friday is a big opportunity for what could easily end up being a Q1 game at year end.

Didn't get to watch but definitely a big win for State. Has a chance to be Q1, should be safely Q2 at a minimum. To win like that with Hubbard not playing well is a really good sign, in my opinion. Murphy appears to have taken a clear step forward this year. And this team has a lot of depth at the guard positions. If you recall, it took State a long time to win its first road game last year, so good to go ahead and get one in the bank.

Up next is a trip to the desert for one of those mini tourneys. Play UNLV on Thanksgiving night and either Butler or Northwestern after that.

Might be Egg Bowl week but significant hoops games this week too. State is playing in a tourney in Tempe, opening with UNLV and then they’ll play either Butler or Northwestern. Ole Miss plays BYU in San Diego and then will get either Purdue or NC State.

A little down the road for State and OM but Memphis, future opponent for both, beat UConn yesterday. The Maui Invitational has been outstanding so far, and you’ve got some big games elsewhere tonight too with Duke vs Kansas and Bama vs Houston.

Both State and OM made the AP Top 25 this week.

12-12 shooting from the FT line in OT helps Ole Miss pick up a 96-85 OT win against a dangerous shooting veteran BYU squad. Started off slow and was getting beat on the boards early on but surprisingly going to a smaller lineup helped out. Got a big one tomorrow against a good Purdue team.

Ole Miss has a very tough 2 game stretch coming up with #13 Purdue tomorrow then has to stay on the road to take on a good Louisville team that just won the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament beating a ranked Indiana team yesterday and West Virginia today. West Virginia just had a big win against #3 Gonzaga yesterday. I watched Louisville against Indiana and they controlled that game from the start. They’ve got five guys that can easily put up double figures in points. This stretch should give us a good understanding of what kind of team we have. I was skeptical leading up to today but I liked what I saw in the 2H and OT. Murray put the team on his back in the 2H on his way to career high 28 points.

I hate to say it but the team I’ve most been impressed with is Auburn. They look scary good. They already have wins against 3 ranked teams plus easily beat a good Memphis team. Got another chance for a ranked win this coming up Wednesday against Duke. They’re a complete team that can beat you from inside or out. Broome and Cardwell are going to give almost every team a tough time down low.

Auburn might be the best team in the country. And Bama is not terribly far behind.

Injury scare with Hubbard tonight, seemed to be ok but didn’t go back in the game with State up big. Every State fan out there gasped when he went down holding his leg. We’ll see if he plays tomorrow night.

This is the best offensive team State has had in a long time, they way they share the ball is remarkable at times.

That’s what scares me about Purdue tomorrow because they looked real good in their win against Bama.

If I were an OM fan I’d anticipate a loss and be over the moon excited if you won. They don’t have Edey anymore but it’s still a Matt Painter team so they’re no doubt good.

Ole Miss loses a heartbreaker 80-78 as Purdue gets a bucket with 1 sec left. Ole Miss came from 17 down early in the game to take a 7 point lead with 4 mins left but was unable to hold on to the lead when the 3’s just wouldn’t fall. The team fought hard to get the lead but it just wasn’t our night in the end. Loved the fight. Just gotta find a way to stop with the slow starts that are costing us.
