@coastfootballfanmancalled it.  George County had to deal with that same thing back when they were in 6A a few years ago and got stymied out of the coast region.

In all honesty, it may be a blessing in disguise for George. Losing Deuce and the playmakers they are on both offense and defense they were looking at a rebuild type year next year. Playing in that region, they should almost be a lock to be the 3 seed most years.

Definitely. You can pretty much pencil in Hattiesburg West Jones and Terry making it in every year. GC should be able to beat Forest Hill and Jim Hill

Concerning the Newton-Mize situation. I think that was the only way to go. Newton is the furthest East and there longest drive  would be about 45 minutes to Pucket. They are next door neigbors to Lake and SC. they are about a 40 minute drive to Pelahatchie. You could swap them out and it still would not make a lot of difference.

Then why send Florence to Cleveland. Explain to me the mileage issue. Is it the  shortest or longest distance. Some of these regions don't make common sense.

For Newton there isn’t much difference. For mize, we now have two opponents that are an hour drive away and one that is about 50 minutes or more. Seems to me it would have been more fair overall travel wise for mize to be in region 5.

Heck matter of fact, clarkdale is an hour and 20 minutes away from mize. Enterprise is a little over an hour away. Had Newton been in region 6, all of their away opponents would have only been 30-45 minutes away. Had mize been in region 5, their furtherest away game would have been scott central which is still less than an hour drive.

Same deal that they did to my friends at ripley.   they are currently in region 2 with the shortest distance 1 way being 1 hour for the nearest opponent.  now they stick them in the delta region 3 with rosa fort, senatobia, clarksdale and byhalia.  keep in mind ripley is 15 miles from new albany and 30 miles from north pontotoc. check the distance from ripley to each of those places.  they had few butts in the ripley  football seats this past season and only senatobia will bring more than 15 butts to a game. geographically there are several region 2 teams with a shorter drive to the region 3 schools than ripley.  talk about making no sense........

This is where the obsession with keeping an even number of teams in each division despite the travel challenges can lead. Ripley will struggle to get fans and take fans to those places other than Senatobia. This won't just be for football but other sports as well.

This one jumped out at me when I saw the lists which overall aren't that bad.

New albany is a good 20 to 30 miles closer than ripley is to each of ripleys region 3 opponents.  A new albany admin is on the committee, so......

New Albany has a member on the Legislative council. The Legislative Council does not have anything to do with the reclass. They do not have an admin on the Executive Council, which does the reclass along with MHSAA Staff.

From what I was told yes and I'd say it's not likely to be reversed. I didn't grow up in Tippah but in that region. I have relatives in Ripley and with students there and at Pine Grove. It's been a little contentious as one would suspect but I figure it will go through. It's overdue.

Unless a lawsuit is filed like in Simpson County.

Quit complaining and play the hand you are dealt…. Or hit the transfer portal.

I'll take my NIL money and run to a championship. No complaints here. There's 2 things in life: The system was never designed to please everyone. The system only needs to satisfy the coaches and higher ups.

R5 2A should be Region 6

R6 2A should be Region 5

That's normally the way it has been set up in the past. Where is amr Enterprise's input on this issue. They got a raw deal here. They might not get to the playoffs the next 2 years unless they defeat Clarkdale.

Enterprise is perfectly capable of beating any team in this region the Enterprise team that played Kemper Co and Tylertown could have beaten Heidelberg Mize Bay Springs and certainly Clarkdale. In fact if Enterprise was in 2A we would still be playing. Our boys go out to win we dont care what team we play we did not get a raw deal all the teams except Mize are very close to Enterprise stop making assumptions.

I've heard there is a board election coming up with one of the candidates running to stop consolidation. His vote would reverse it to 3-2 other way.

I inquired with my Tippah connections yesterday and the candidate opposing consolidation lost the race. It was on the November 5 ballot,.

meanwhile, other news out of tippah county today........

Saw the Ripley coach is retiring. This year was a struggle for them but I've heard he's a great coach. They've had some up and down years but it's not a bad situation.

Yes, after a  meeting called by the admin, he decided the best path for him was to make this choice. They almost did it last week but waited so all board members could be available if a poll was necessary. Ended up about the same situation that he had when he decided to retire the first time at Calhoun City. The on the field product yielded the worst offense in the history of ripley football but this had as much or more to do with off the field type issues. the ripley faithful all breathed in a deep breath and are ready to move fresh onto the next chapter. over and out
