Dawg83
I did not realize how ridiculous of a year Melendez is having for Texas. .396 with 32 homers? Holy crap. With so-so pitching and a bunch of teams that can rake, it may feel like 1998 with some of these games. My best guess for Game 1 winners: A&M, Texas, Arkansas, Ole Miss. But everything is a toss-up in Omaha so who knows. For some reason I’m really liking Texas on their side of the bracket, which probably means they’re going 0-2. The other side of the bracket is a total mystery to me, I can make a case for any of the 4 teams.
Bulldogs4
Texas, had not been for Will Bednar, would have probably won it last year. I agree they are probably the favorite on their side. Could be a Arkansas-Texas Final. But if Ole Miss wins their first two games , I believe they will win it all. A big IF but very much possible. A&M as the 5 seed just does not seem even possible. I think they go two and Q. ND probably goes two and Q. Just don’t see them duplicating last weekend again. But if they advance I will be pulling for them. Like their coach and that program. Class acts all the way. If it comes down to OM-ND, I will pull for both teams and be happy for whoever wins it. Like 83 noted, just the opposite of the above will probably happen. MSTSatchmo
In the Miami regional, I said if OM beat Miami in the second game they’d be in the CWS. I agree with B4 now. If they win the first two in Omaha, they’re going to win it all.
rebmus
Jinxing bastages! Ole Miss goes 0-2.
MSTSatchmo
I didn’t even check the times for the games today. Got off work, mowed the lawn, got dinner and sat down to watch two games and Oklahoma had already beat A&M. rebmus
It's only 1 game, but Oklahoma made my pick of them look good today.
Dawg83
Notre Dame beat Texas so I’m 0 for 2 on my picks so far. Naturally. Lol. A&M vs Texas in an elimination game is real spicy. Curious to see what happens with Notre Dame-Oklahoma, both have been on a major roll. I think OU is probably more talented but ND is very fundamentally sound. Should be a good game and one of them will be in the catbird seat for a spot in the championship after Sunday. Don’t know that many would have called that a few weeks ago. Bulldogs4
Regardless of what happens in the OM-Auburn game, a SEC team will be in the catbird seat in that bracket. I think Ole Miss beats Auburn tonight. R-Can-Saw has been impressive today.
s1nglewing
He did a fine job. 113 pitches, but was faltering from the stretch.
rebmus
CWS is proving to be wide open as we thought. The 4 hosts in Omaha all lost game 1s while the 4 two/three seeds won game 1s. Arkansas looked very good today. Ole Miss looked pretty dang good also... we'll see how OM vs Arkansas works out.
Dawg83
No doubt that Ole Miss is pitching at an incredibly high level in the postseason. I thought Auburn was a favorable matchup for OM so not surprised at all that they won. That Arkansas game on Monday night is really interesting. Right now I think I like the Hogs to win but it’s also hard to pick against OM’s pitching at the moment. Interesting to me that all four Game 1 winners were unseeded teams beating seeded teams, and none of the games were particularly close. Wcchaingang
This game went about as perfect as you can have it. Delucia was lights out.
Dawg83
I guess the only thing I’ll say is that as great as it is to win Game 1, that Monday game is equally important. Win on Monday and you are one win away from the Finals, lose and you have to turn around a play the next three days and win all three games, burning all kinds of pitching just to try to make the finals. Yep, winning the first 2 is equally important. IF OM ends up losing game 2, very little chance to advance from the loser's bracket. I'm sticking with my Oklahoma vs Arkansas final pick for now. Wcchaingang
I actually like the matchup with Arkansas. It helps seeing teams you have seen already.

MSTSatchmo
Good win by OM. Maybe the best pitching performance of the postseason so far by anyone. Arkansas and OM had 3 tight games during the regular season. Should be a great game. Whoever wins I think will be this year’s champ. Bulldogs4
Arkansas should have saved some runs for Monday. I like Ole Miss in the match up Monday. Sometimes it is hard to follow up a seventeen run game. I think runs will be at premium Monday and that will favor Ole Miss. Texas over A&M. Notre Dame over Oklahoma. Stanford over Auburn. Notre Dame and Ole Miss will be 2-0 come Monday evening. A&M and Auburn will be two & Q.

Dawg83
A&M up big on Texas, we’ve yet to have close game in Omaha through five games barring a late change here. I think Notre Dame wins tonight and Stanford and Arkansas win tomorrow. But if OM wins tomorrow I expect they make the Finals.
rebmus
I think the ND vs Oklahoma game will be a good one this evening. Then again, it may be a blowout like the rest so far??
Bulldogs4
I have been completely wrong about A&M. They are similar to the 2018 State team. No way should be they be where they are but yet there they are. Still playing ball and guaranteed no worse than tied for fifth in the nation when it is all said and done with a chance to be still even better.
