MSTSatchmo
Noland for Arkansas was really impressive today. He shut down one of the hottest hitting teams in the country.
rebmus
I figure many were low on A&M due to the slow start. Once those new players at A&M gelled, they've been pretty dang good.

I’ve had this thought for a while that Arkansas might win the whole thing this year, for no reason other than they didn’t last year when everyone thought they would and baseball is weird like that. rebmus
Another thing to keep in mind, Texas and Oklahoma will be in the SEC shortly. IF this super regional round was happening a couple of years from now, it would include 7 of 16 teams left with all 7 still alive for Omaha after day 2 of supers... with 1 already locked into Omaha. Bulldogs4
Heck of a comeback by Texas to stay alive against East Carolina. Tennessee crushed ND today and will probably win tomorrow. But I am pulling for the Irish to pull off the impossible. Tennessee is just about the most unlike able team in the history of the SEC. For the first time ever, I believe the entire conference is pulling for Notre Dame to beat a fellow conference member. And they have done it entirely to themselves. Bulldogs4
And 83, you are correct about Arkansas. If they make it to Omaha, they will be a battle tested team that very well may win it all.
MSTSatchmo
What do State fans think about having 11 players in the portal? That’s the second most in the SEC only to Missouri.
Bulldogs4
Good question MST. Certainly problematic in that you hate to see that much turnover. But that seems to be where all college sports are headed. Basically a free for all with the loose transfer rule and NIL. I personally think it is bad overall for all the sports. But back to State, when you finish last in the conference with a losing record, I presume it is not surprising to see some turnover in the roster. It was a weird year. Hopefully one or two these players end up staying at State. But I don’t blame any player for looking at leaving for more playing time. We will see how it plays out next year. And of course we will be on the receiving end of some transfers as well. But in the grand scheme, I have no idea what might be going on inside the program with regard to the issue. MSTSatchmo
Most schools had around 5. OM had one and Tennessee none, however they’re still playing. You’d think with State’s situation, even missing out on the SECT this year, the players would still have the NC on their mind from the previous year (not to mention the facilities). In one of the games today they made a comment about major programs stealing the top players from smaller schools as soon as they have a good season. I could see that being a point of emphasis for schools going forward. Especially since, in baseball, it’s tough to put so much effort and time into recruiting great HS players to only lose them to the MLB draft. MSTSatchmo
5 SEC wins today. Should be some good games tomorrow. Well, later today.

I think some of those transfers are the mutual decision type. And unless I’m forgetting someone I don’t think any of them were major contributors. Guys like Tepper and Walling had loads of potential but never put it together. Skinner, Corder, and Meche never really showed they could hit SEC pitching. I think they had high hopes for Jack Walker but he had an awful freshman year. State will be bringing in quite a few guys as well. Already committed two transfer pitchers and an outfielder with impressive batting numbers. I expect at least 2-3 additional guys in the coming weeks. I don’t know that you’re talking about a Top 5 or 10 team next year but I’ll be surprised if they aren’t better. I think this was the year where the whole four coaches in four years thing finally caught up with them in recruiting and then they had some hugely significant injuries to make matters worse. Bulldogs4
Down goes Tennessee. I knew ND was going to be tough. Just like I said after last year, UT’s little stadium was not going to intimidate them. They were ready for the moment. Kind of like the State women playing UCONN the second time around a few years back. They were ready for the moment. A bit different circumstances but a parallel nonetheless. Baseball will humble the best of teams.
MSTSatchmo
We all knew Tennessee could be beat, but since they’re officially out I really believe there is no favorite. Any of the teams can win it. The 2 and 3 seeds are down 1 game to none and the 4th seed is on the ropes in game 3.

Dawg83
The curse of the 1 overall seed lives on. You are looking at a potentially strange Omaha field this year. Nothing like the year you had Stony Brook and Kent State there but definitely some fresh faces and notable absences.
Dawg83
Could be wrong but probably gonna be hard for USM to win without scoring a run the entire weekend.
Dawg83
A 3-0 lead feels like 10-0 with how poorly USM has hit this weekend. Barring something shocking Ole Miss is well on its way to Omaha.
rebmus
That was a helluva play by USM's SS.
Bulldogs4
Agreed. Of course, still have play these last couple of innings. But zeros don’t cut it on the scoreboard.
MSTSatchmo
From last team in to the CWS. i thought they had a pretty favorable regional and super regional matchup. I never really was sold on USM. OM has just as good a shot in Omaha as anymore.
rebmus
What a pitching performance by Ole Miss the past 2 weeks. We'll see what happens in Omaha.
Bulldogs4
I am guessing that Coach Bianco is safe at least for a couple of more years. Great job by Ole Miss. Just outstanding 5 game stretch here to win the Regional/Super Regional. MST, don’t sell short sweeping USM on the road by a combined score of 15-0. Very impressive and Southern had a tremendous team this year. Omaha is wide open. If Arkansas makes it they will be tough. But as 83 noted, there will not be a clear favorite. ND is going to be a handful but they may have a hard time duplicating the effort against Tennessee again in Omaha.
Bulldogs4
Notre Dame did the impossible. Not only did they beat Tennessee, they also united the other 13 teams against a fellow SEC team. Tennessee was a bunch of douche bags led by their number 1 douche bag coach. Notre Dame, no less. That is like the Saints winning the Super Bowl. rebmus
Arkansas just tied it 3-3 in the 9th with 1 out and runners on 1st and 3rd. A deep fly will win the game.
