Dawg83
At the end of the day, yes it’s all about who gets hot at the right time but you’ve gotta have the talent too. OM being the last team in has gotten a ton of talk but they were always one of the most talented teams in the country.

The talent was there, but OM just didn't put it all together until late in the season. It was a "bizzaro world" OM season, typically the talent puts it together in the regular season then fades away when it matters. I'd argue OM has had more talented teams than this in the past, none of those teams "gelled" as a complete team when it mattered. Watching Elko help carry last year's team on one leg, it was awesome to see him and this year's team get a natty.
Bulldogs4
I said the same thing last year. The ‘21 State was probably the 7th or 8th best team we have ever had but won it. Ole Miss has probably had 5-6 better teams than this year but won it. You just never know how these things are going to turn out.
rebmus
Agreed B4. Last year's MSU team wasn't the best MSU baseball team ever assembled, but they won it all when the past MSU teams didn't. Last year's MSU team put it all together when it mattered.
Bulldogs4
I also predicted that Ole Miss was going to get a bid right after they were eliminated from the SECT when most were saying they were not going to get a bid. I think they put to rest the question if another team should have been in over them.
Bulldogs4
And it also speaks of the importance of leadership and experience. Elko provided that along with Graham and that makes a huge difference. No way State wins last year without Allen and Rowdy. It is an intangible part of the team but it is hard to quantify because stats don’t always tell the whole story. Wcchaingang
I don’t think Bench gets enough credit from most OM fans. What he was able to do going from CF to 3rd was impressive.
MSTSatchmo
I’m just glad a team won it that didn’t have a bunch of those little porn star mustaches. Elko’s doesn’t count because he is actually 35 years old. Edited June 28, 2022 by MSTSatchmo

Bulldogs4
That is great for State. He will provide great leadership plus he is a good ball player.
