maroontide06
https://www.wtok.com/2024/07/18/meridian-high-school-unveils-new-field/ Why did they do this? Are they gonna have free Tylenol dispensaries at The Ray set up every 5 feet?
wpgreenwave51
It's nice. I think Tupelo's look better because it does have the gold in it but that's just me.
Bulldogs4
When I first heard about it, I was skeptical. But the other evening I dove down 32nd Street and looked in from the North End of the Stadium. I think it looks cool. Very sleek. But the main thing is the turf should be comfortable and safe for the players. The new video/score board looks great as well. They have a new weight room too. I think the next upgrade will be for the press box. It is good to see the old lady get some upgrades after 87+ years. Cheyenne has done a great job as AD at Meridian High in addition to being to be a really good guy as well.
maroontide06
Why didn’t they contrast the end zones? That’s just a whole lotta blue. I’m sure it’ll have an adjustment period for folks to get used to.
Merlin
They missed great opportunity to make the endzone black and white checkerboard pattern. i hope when west jones gets theirs it’s green.
Sharper
Looks like a lighter shade of blue than Boise State's famed blue turf.

The cost was just under 370K so it was not cheap by any means. I agree with Sharper that the blue is not as loud as Boise. I am an old guy who loves tradition but in this case I really like the color. It is fresh and new and definitely something different. They have also raised the level of the playing surface to even with the track. And that will be much safer for the players as well. The old field used to be about three feet below the track and there was not much room between the sideline and the track. It made for potentially dangerous situations for the players going out of bounds running at full speed. I am glad that has been rectified as well. Meridian has entirely too much blue in it
Wareaglefan1us
Here’s another view, it looks good but I’m almost 60 years old lol. I like a green field myself

I just hope it's easier to look at in person because pictures and video make it look loud and bright. Somebody might need to throw some mildew on it to give it a weathered look LOL. It'll probably get that way over time though.
Bulldogs4
Under the lights, I thought it looked really good. I am a natural grass aficionado but I understand the economics of having the turf surface for high schools. Our colors are Royal Blue and White so why not do something outside the box. ccbulldog
I'm old school and think fields should be green but i understand if the players like it. Plus I'm still pissed Boyles bolted after one season. Edited July 20, 2024 by ccbulldog

I like a green field myself I can remember playing at Clinton when they wore all black uniforms. They would blend in with the end zone. If/ when Meridian wears all blue, it will mess with the opposing team
