slicklizard
I know that Laurel's bandwagon is full but I'm not on it in this game. Laurel is flashy and likes to put up big scores. West is gritty and grinds out games. They like to keep it close at the end and makes plays and coaching decisions to pull games out. I think Pierson gets it done again, I don't know how but I think he will stimie the Laurel offense with tough defense and win a nailbiter. CrimsonUnit1988
Pretty sure this one is in Laurel.
Dubaction
I picked West Jones to repeat at the beginning of the year but I’m not sure they will make it past this week.
David44
It's at West, but really not much of a home field advantage. These schools are 7 miles apart. Laurel will have as many fans probably as West, just a lot them will be standing on the track. Laurel certainly seems to be the favorite, some say by 20+ points now. West has lost a lot of key players this year, but that's football. The replacements though have been thru several tough games lately, so no excuses. I think the key for West will be stopping Benjamin enough to where Laurel gets in some 3 and long situations. WJ secondary has not been bitten by the injury bug and a couple of interceptions could be huge in this game, as to stopping Laurel and giving the WJ offense short fields. I was assuming IF GC and Gautier had won then GC would've traveled to Gautier because they wouldn't have had a home game. Obviously didn't work out that way. In that case I thought Laurel hosted but that makes sense.

The only way a one seed would travel is if they were playing the other one seed and the only way a four seed would host is if they played the other four seed. And that could only happen in the north and south state championships. Which is the way it should be. Back in the old way if you were really good but still finished 3rd or 4th in your region you didnt mind playing that 1st round game on the road. choctawman
Number of home and away games is in effect until North-South game. In North-South round, if 2 equally seeded teams meet the state rotates the lower higher region number. This year the lower number would host. If not equally seeded the higher seed would host. If 2 teams from the same region meet the higer seed would always host. WJ was one and will host. Laurel cannot host regardless of who wins the other game. Of course in 5a and 6a you will never get 2 equally seeded teams until the north-south finals.
Deonte3455
I think Laurel wins this game in style.
Tiburon
yeah i think Laurel is gonna out physical West and wear them down.
David44
Laurel will be bigger, they always are. WJ is still going to have stop Benjamin some an force laurel to throw more than they want to. If they can could be game changing INTS. WJ 31 Laurel
CrimsonUnit1988
I just know that if Laurel plays like they did last Friday, they're gonna be really hard to beat for anyone. I'll say Laurel 35-24.
slicklizard
I think it will have to be relatively low scoring , nothing past the mid twenties for West to win. Their offense isn't built to survive shootouts right now.
David44
no doubt, scoring has to be in the 20's late in this game. Look for WJ to go all out block on any Laurel punts. Always been pretty good at that under Pierson. May see a WJ fake punt also, if the situation is right. There will be something we have not seen all year, put in the game plan. HammerDown74
I saw Coach Earnest wasn’t coaching last night. Hopefully he’s healthy.

slicklizard
Laurel is on a roll . But so is Picayune. The two teams that are peaking right now in 5A South are playing at the southern end of I59 next Friday. I can’t take anything away from either it worked out the way it should have.
