Vott
I think 2024 will be exactly how 2023 went. The Hattiesburg/West Jones game will determine the region winner. Terry takes the 3 spot and the Forest Hill/Pearl River Central winner gets the 4 spot. The questions to be answered are, Is this HHS team the best team since 2017 when HHS made the 5a title game. Will West Jones defense be the strong point of their team even though they lost almost all of their starters. Does Terry have enough coming back to challenge HHS or WJ and finally, will Pearl River Central snap their losing streak this season that goes back to the middle of the 2022 season

maroontide06
@Vottthere’s so much to dissect and analyze here, but your prediction is pretty much spot on. I also think Pearl River Central will break that losing streak that goes back to the week after the Long Beach game in 2022 like you mentioned, and there’s a factor there that will probably help to get that done. If I had to guess though, it would probably happen against one of their non-district opponents. If they manage to win a district game on top of winning a non-district game, that would be a huge step in the right direction for them. Progress takes time, but the opportunity is there for it to happen.
Rebel Bert
Will Terry be better and stronger or will the Jackson refs take u out
Merlin
West Jones will be flipping their script from last year. They won’t be carried by the defense. They lost 10 starters there. Will be a work in progress. Teams will score some on them, but they may only need to be half as good as last year. On offense they lost 2 regular starters on the line and 1 other that was in and out. The offense is stacked.
PigskinPrognosticator
Looking forward to seeing how Holmes plays as an every down LB for West Jones. Kid is a stud!
Merlin
Wj has 13 kids at o line positions that can rotate over 250 lbs each. 8 are over 280. And 8 6’2 or taller.

PigskinPrognosticator
No, Holmes is being moved to LB. He’ll still get some carries, but look for him to be more of an impact on the defensive side of the ball this Fall. Great move by the WJ staff. No sense in him only effecting the game every 3rd possession on offense. Edited May 3, 2024 by PigskinPrognosticator
Merlin
Actually I think you are confusing the 2 Holmes brothers. It’s Caleb’s brother Keegan that is on defense.
PigskinPrognosticator
No, Caleb will be playing defense per Coach Hicks. Edited May 4, 2024 by PigskinPrognosticator

Toward the end of last year and thru the playoffs, he was starting to look like one of the best running backs in the state. Maybe we have an unknown up-an-coming kid that can replace that production. PigskinPrognosticator
Jones was always going to be RB1
