In the south, two of the most passionate fan bases in the state, with historically good playoff success, especially for Oak Grove. Brandon is again trying to break through for a state championship after falling short the past couple of years. O.G. knows how to win championships, having done it in 2013 and ‘20. Anybody who tells you that they can pick this winner is smarter than me. Up north, Starkville is back, looking to go back to back, and Madison Central has history too, having won two years ago. The first game OG faced an early 17-0 deficit due to a blown coverage on a flea flicker , an onside kick, and a poor punt to give really good field position all in the 1st quarter. And Brandon is a tough team to have to fight back from that kind of deficit. There were chances to still win the game. I think the difference now is how well we are playing defensively. They will have to be damn good to beat OG twice though. It’s amazing this thread doesn’t have more clicks. I expect Starkville and MC to be much closer than last time. MC’s defense is playing some championship level football from what I saw the other night. Bulldogs4 Posted November 21, 2023 Share Posted November 21, 2023 I like Oak Grove to beat Brandon. No particular reason other than I think they are the better team if both teams play their A game. I know the game is at Brandon but OG is road tested so I don’t think that will be a huge advantage to Brandon. Starkville beats MC in a tough game. Should be no problem getting the team up for this one, since Brandon beat them earlier. I'm sure the coaches have been reminding them of that loss all week.
