I have said that this year’s Ole Miss’ team reminds me of the ‘99 State team. Obviously this OM team is much better offensively than that State team but lots of parallels in the teams found/finding ways to win close games.
That State team was 10-2 and Ole Miss is headed towards a 10 or possibly more win season this year.

I will admit to being wrong early in the year about Ole Miss not having much at WR. Harris is excellent.

When Harris went out injured early in the season, the offense wasn't the same.

Watkins/Wade make pretty dang good #2/#3 options at WR when Harris is healthy.

Prieskorn getting healthy has sure helped also.

Harris had 2 great one handed grabs today... only one was counted. The second one was out of bounds in the end zone and probably one of the prettiest "non catches" you'll ever see.

I figured this game would be a battle. A&M has a TON of talent, there's no way they should be 5-4. Jimbo MAY need to run the table to save his job. IF MSU goes to college station and picks up the win next weekend, I wouldn't be surprised if Petrino is named interim next Sunday.

Sam Pittman tried rolling his hot seated office chair into Billy Napier's office today. Pittman sure helped his case to keep his job today and shifted attention to Napier. I just don't see Pittman keeping his job unless he somehow wins the next 3.

I think Pittman will be back. They have been in all their games this year but have lost a bunch of close games. Three point losses to LSU and Bama, 4 point loss to State, 7 point loss to Ole Miss. Could easily have a better record.

Florida is a weird deal. Fired Mullen but hired a worse coach so I don’t quite understand their MO these days.

Arkansas has been the opposite of OM.  They’ve lost all their close games and OM has won there’s.

I think this may just about seal it for Arnett. Now very likely to to finish under .500 and the program has absolutely zero juice right now. I am not normally a proponent of a quick trigger but you can’t continue with this. Especially not while your rival is thriving at the same time.

It’s very difficult to watch and I agree.  I hate it for Arnett, but he won’t have trouble finding another DC job somewhere else.

If there is an argument for another year of Arnett I personally do not see it. This season has been a disaster. Even before Rogers and Marks got hurt. He was put into a tough situation that he wasn’t ready for and I appreciate him helping the program navigate through the dark days that immediately followed Leach’s death. But it just hasn’t worked in the least bit. And you can’t let yourself fall behind any further.

He's not gonna draw any gamers from other programs. MSU needs to hire a name coach with the ability to bring in talent.

What legit candidates are lining up to interview if Arnett is fired after ONE year? I have no idea, but that's the question the AD will be asking to advisors.

I don’t think that by itself will preclude most realistic candidates from wanting the job, but it could require you to pay more. Which is fine. Arnett has a cheap contract compared to his peers, you’re gonna have to pony up some money anyway,

I expect Tom Herman’s name to be mentioned a lot. Don’t know their level of interest but I would have Jamey Chadwell and Curt Cignetti’s names high on the list too. Go get you someone that has a track record of winning football games.

Jamey Chadwell would be my pick. He has been successful. He runs a very fun offense that will draw in playmakers offensively. Parson fits his offense as well.

Would be very much on board, only fear is he’s in a spot where he can wait and be picky. He may feel like he can do better than State, kinda like Billy Napier when Moorhead was fired.

I don’t think making a move after one year with Arnett in this particular situation would be a negative.

It has to be a really good hire though, or things would get much worse. Almost like a permanent spot at the bottom worse.  Plus it would have to be done quick with the early signing and transfer portal.  Something they should have been working on since mid season.

You do make a valid point. He may feel he can hold out for a “better” gig. Maybe State could throw enough money at him to convince him. LOL.
