South Panola should begin to show in the USA Today, MaxPrep rankings with this team!

South Panola played well in every aspect of the game on Friday night against Cordova. They had the precision we became used to during the streak. Of course Coach Woods is a spectacular coach and after transiting to the community college ranks and to high schools in Tennessee and Georgia, he has returned to SP with a grasp of offensive and defensive schemes that will be hard for any opposing team to address going forward -- he's done well over the past couple of seasons to bring SP back -- USA Today and Max Preps rankings will probably take notice as the season progresses.

He's also brought on former SP player and NFL lineman John Jerry to the coaching staff. The former Miami Dolphins, New York Giants great, who was part of the SP team that began the streak, has unquestionably added a solid dimension to the  offensive and defensive line. The quarterbacks (both underclassmen), receivers, kicking game, special teams, etc., are all on que -- watch out for some exciting 6A football... .

Tigers looked like a team that played zero prior games and very limited practice time who beat a pretty crappy Cordova team. It's good to see a former player who can show these kids how to win and what it takes to make it to the next level and beyond (something sorely lacking in recent years, imo)--especially on the offensive line. SP is in dire need of some new blood, and coaches like Jerry are an excellent start.

Hopefully, there's a lot of season left, but the lack of games is going to hurt them going forward if they don't gel quickly. Pump the brakes on USA Today rankings and streak talk, dude.

Well, I figure they need a PR man in relation to USA Today and MaxPreps. I was pleasantly surprised with their execution, despite their working-out first game kinks. Cordova wasn't top tier, but SP's playmaking was good outside of Cordova's inadequacies.

Cordova is 0-4 and has lost EVERY game by 35-50+. They are the equivalent of South Panola beating Strayhorn.

I know South Panola is a very good program and will be tough year in and year out, but this is really jumping the gun. The only 2 decent teams on the regular season schedule were Neshoba and Oxford who the Tigers didn't play. I know thats not really the kids fault. However, they scored LESS points against Cordova than the teams Cordova has already played. Now that they have moved into a new region, I dont think we'll really know what they really have until playoffs. They should breeze through that region with the top spot though. Like I said. I think they will ALWAYS field a good team, but its just too early to make those kinds of claims after playing one of the worst teams they'll see all year.

Cordova wasn’t middle tier. They’re one of the worst teams in the Memphis metro. Bottom tier unless there is something lower than that I don’t know about. As a matter of fact, the SP game was their closest all season despite getting beat 42-6. Their other losses were 49-7, 55-0, and 58-6. SP is going to have to show something better before being mentioned in a national top 25 poll. This isn’t 2007

How many kids named Pegues do you have this year? If the answer is more than 2, I'll listen.
