Yes, football is truly a great metaphor for life, combat, and gamesmanship.

Greenville Christian's players looked like a college team. They were quite impressive. I thought their mere 35 players, or so, would wear down, but they were ballers.

Greenville Christian must have done some major recruiting. They've been perpetually at the bottom and suddenly they're having a great season, Hmmm. Oak Grove had beeter watch out, private schools can ruthlessly recruit.

Well, I figure they need a PR man in relation to USA Today and MaxPreps. I was pleasantly surprised with their execution, despite their working-out first game kinks. Cordova wasn't top tier, but SP's playmaking was good outside of Cordova's inadequacies.

Tupelo's the largest high school in Mississippi. It has three times the number of students as Corinth. I'm not sure why they don't perform better than they do. Corinth's in 4A.

Cordova was a good tune-up for them, though. I played for South Panola years ago, and think I can guage them pretty well. Based on their execution, they'll match-up well with any team, it looks like.

South Panola played well in every aspect of the game on Friday night against Cordova. They had the precision we became used to during the streak. Of course Coach Woods is a spectacular coach and after transiting to the community college ranks and to high schools in Tennessee and Georgia, he has returned to SP with a grasp of offensive and defensive schemes that will be hard for any opposing team to address going forward -- he's done well over the past couple of seasons to bring SP back -- USA Today and Max Preps rankings will probably take notice as the season progresses. He's also brought on former SP player and NFL lineman John Jerry to the coaching staff. The former Miami Dolphins, New York Giants great, who was part of the SP team that began the streak, has unquestionably added a solid dimension to the offensive and defensive line. The quarterbacks (both underclassmen), receivers, kicking game, special teams, etc., are all on que -- watch out for some exciting 6A football... .
