I would like to think that West Jones would be favored in this one, but something is telling me it's going to be a shot in the dark.  I still think West Jones eeks out a win, but this will definitely be a real test for them.  If they manage to get separation in this game and win by a comfortable margin then Hattiesburg needs to be on high alert.

No doubt. JP will be the most balanced offense WJ will see this year. They average around 180 passing and 180 rushing per game.

The only opponent we have faced this year that had any success( and it wasn't much...)  on offense was Laurel, and that was thru the air.

JP will have a much better passing attack than Laurel and I bet there mix of run vs pass play calling will be spot on.

Our defensive coaches will earn their pay this week for sure.

Regardless of how this game comes out HHS will be on high alert when they face WJ. I will say this though, the Terry game concerns me just a tad because HHS plays them the week before WJ.

That could be a trap game, but I think Terry might actually be more than halfway decent so it may not be a trap game after all.  They are definitely a lock for the playoffs though.

Yeah, me too. After the JP game, Terry would look to be the most formidable opponent we have left, before the D.I. Patrick game.

On a serious note though… how does Prep compare to MRA? If they’re anything close to that it’ll be a really good test for WJ from a coaching standpoint at the very least. I plan on tuning in since my guys are on bye week.

JP is not going to score much at all on the WJ defense.  They havnt, and will not see a defense this big, fast, and athletic.  Their only real chance is hope they can tackle west jones big rb and force some turnovers.  
 

Maybe I’m being a bit arrogant here, but, other than JP and Hattiesburg I don’t think anyone else on the schedule scores a point on wests defense for the remainder of the regular season. At least not the starting defense. And I would be very surprised if anyone scores more than 14 on it. Actually I’m still being a bit generous there.

Prep will likely be the most disciplined and the best-coached team West Jones will face. Prep's head coach is in the Alabama sports hall of fame. He runs the offense. Prep's defensive coordinator has been there a long time and is excellent. 

 

Regarding the MRA comparison, Prep is probably more talented defensively than MRA. Schematically, Prep will mix 3 and 4-man fronts and will blitz its inside linebackers a lot. The defensive line is athletic but only averages around 200 lbs. It's more like Prep has 7 linebackers on the field. The secondary is probably the best unit on the defense. 

 

On the offensive side, MRA is more talented at QB (John White is really good) but Prep is more talented at receiver. Prep has a tight end that's 6'2" 220 lbs. with multiple D-1 offers. It has a 6'3" outside WR that can go up and get it. The slot is really quick and may be the best overall football player on the team. The RB is shifty and does a good job waiting for holes to develop. The offensive lines and RBs of Prep and MRA are probably equally talented.

 

Prep's offensive scheme is different than MRA's. MRA's offense is built around 4 wide receivers, option routes, and throwing the ball downfield. Prep's offense is more variable. Prep will mix 3, 4, and 5 receiver sets and will run a variety of route concepts - mesh, 4 verts, option routes, etc. But Prep will also mix in the wishbone and inside/outside zone option runs. 

 

WJ is definitely bigger than Prep. The game will come down to whether Prep's defense can limit WJ's run game enough (the big running back at WJ is a load), and whether Prep's offensive line can give the QB enough time to throw.

200 pound d line on average?  West jones every single player on the field over 200 pounds.  West will run wild against that. 
 

And if the prep qb can’t throw while on the run, cause he will be running a whole lot, they aren’t getting much on offense either.

For WJ, the only skill guys over 180 are Jones and the H-back. None of the rest come close.
