What’s going on in Wayne County?

And here lies the problem with the once mighty Wayne County. People are really happy with having a losing season, getting the 3 seed in a bad district, and going to second round because you played a very average South Jones team in the first round. It is really sad that WC has dropped to this level

I got to kind of speak up for my friend here. We know each other and he is a universe away from being content. I think his statement came out wrong.

Like I put above there are only about a hundred people or less that are around the program now. Mostly parents and people inside the school that are simpletons. They have created apathy within the community and insulated themselves from any situations which may affect the good salary numbers they will retire with. They meaning Bubba Hathorne and freeloader Branch.
The coach doesn’t know how to win and thinks he’s always one more offensive lineman from dominating.

Content???? Far from it but go to the Wayne County school district web site and tell me do you see an opening for a head coach. That’s all I was saying before you interjected your opinion. WC will not reach out to anyone because there’s no opening at this time. I have forgotten more championship level football than you have been involved in. A lot of the reasons you don’t have the championship memories is because they couldn’t get through WC.
I don’t usually say things like this on here. So to all other GC fans much respect and glad to see your program on the way back. I will not do like Wildcatfan and group everyone in GC in the same basket. Sounds like he wants to put all WC fans in Hillary Clinton’s basket of deplorable s

Why not build a new school on 84 for Beat Four and Clara students. We call it West Wayne and old East Wayne.

lol when they forced consolidation on us they never built a new school. All the county schools were forced to one existing high school Waynesboro Central. Consolidation was going to save so much money. How so? All the schools that were operating then are operating now as middle schools

I had a cousin at the old buckatunna elementary when it was in the white building near the river bridge when they consolidated.  My mom and aunts went to high school at buckatunna.

seriously you need to go get with your family and let them oversee some kind of testing for you.  another just non comprehensible thought.
do you even think about this stuff ?

just to maybe work the two brain cells you seem to have. it would be a logistical nightmare for one. what would you do about kids that were involved in all the extra curricular ? Bus them right back to one central location to participate  then right back to this satellite branch of the high school. Not to mention the extra overhead.

stop it man get some help.

I am smart enough to know that I see a grippy man with a problem of how his school district and school is ran. Maybe 2 schools can work better than one big school that seems to have lost its way. Seems like you need your family to put you where you can get help. Maybe you need power you don't have. Run for school board and do something about it. Perhaps your rocks aren't all there. I normally think outside the box.

so you really are stupid. You can’t even put down a complete thought.

explain how building more schools would work. Please try. Maybe write it out in crayon and have someone else type it out. Otherwise just stick to memory lane in other threads or continue to get called out. Everyone on here thinks you are a moron.

You know it’s bad when good coaches are reaching out through back channels hoping to get a shot at the WC job.  They have seen what’s coming up from the youth teams that this current pension protector hasn’t ruined yet
Two or three people that call the shots have walled off anything from the outside that might get them run out of this county too.
When does our former player take his seat on the board ?

Heard they had their coaching clinic last Friday! Slick any word on how that went.

From all accounts it was supposed to have good attendance being planned for so I guess it went well I haven't really heard anything.

As some here know I have been limited in moving about as I once had . This was pretty much most of last year . So much so i had only been to Waynesboro two times max during that time period, Those trips consisted of me taking care of the business of keeping property up to date and not putting boots on the ground so to speak.  . Outside of coming across the so called Supt briefly ( I still consider him to be a self serving bum ), I didn't have any contact with anyone stirring the sauce so to speak.

These next thoughts are not easy for a someone with as much pride as I have been cursed or blessed with, take your pick, to make known. Nevertheless when a power greater than yourself reveals something to you , only a fool would not see the direction this was steering them down. Being wrong is something everyone is faced with frequently. To truly move forward  you have to be willing to admit it at least internally . Very recently I spent an extended  time up there and without going into specifics I was hit in the face by this very thing.

It's true that Wayne County has not had success on the field . While wins would have been nice those need to be as a result of the progress . Coach Jack Hankins has been out front taking the arrows for theses kids . Arrows shot by people like myself. Man was I ever wrong . I called good , bad, and from ancient times we have been told to refrain from this. I will be judged for it one day. The man laid his guts out for me to see. There is no doubt that his selflessness is evident in the kind of young man he is putting out. I seen it first hand.  He is the only anchor a lot of these kids have. He puts that first. Above on how he is viewed by the vast majority.

Wayne County and Waynesboro are both crime infested traps for the young men there right now. He's the only way out for many that have the deck stacked against them from day one.

Without going too long I do apologize to Coach Hankins.  I hope he doesn't leave anytime soon. It may shock some but if he doesn't win another game I don't care. My  point  of view has changed rapidly .He's doing the dirty work that most men or coaches wouldn't touch and bailed out a long time ago. Really an almost thankless job.

Wanting to hoist titles is a bridge too far right now as I see it. A lot of dirty hands in my hometown as to the overall state of things but the man that has the HC position isn't one of them.  As was said to me there may not be an answer but all you can do is try to keep dipping water out of the boat as it spills in or it will rapidly sink to the bottom.

It may wind up there anyway.

Great Post!!! I don't know the guy but I think this post shed light on the fact that wins are great and something to strive for, but for the high school coach ( the good ones anyway ) it can be more than ball.

In your opinion, do you think some of the on-field shortcomings are attributed more to some assistant coaching shortcomings? The way they managed to come alive the second half of the season could bode well for their momentum going forward!

Slick I told you he’s a really good guy who goes above and beyond for his kids. We are all bleacher coaches at times and second guess coaching. The one thing you can’t second guess is what he does for some of the players who have nobody else to do for them. I’ve been there when the coaches would say ok I’m going to take this one home you take that one. We’re talking miles and miles a week because otherwise they would not make it to practice. I showed up at the ER one night because our longtime manager JP who was in bad shape. Who beat me there? Coach Hankins heck I have even been going through some health issues who always texts or calls to check on me it Coach Hankins. I always thank him and he always says you’re War Eagle Family.
We at WC have been spoiled through the years by winning. Things got off track before Coach Hankins got here, people just don’t realize how far off track. I do believe he’s righting the ship but my ultimate compliment would be I would definitely won’t my son to play for him.

I honestly believe that the vast majority of high school coaches deeply care about their players. They spend two or three times longer with players than with their own kids everyday. Some are better than others when it comes to caring for the community but most are great guys that would give their players everything possible for them to be successful in life.

Looking at it through a different lens now I think it’s a few things.

Depth . Not a lot of upper class men and the youth were getting manhandled.

Assistant coaching but some of that lies at the people like myself running the job down but the lion’s share of that blame is Hathorne. Nobody likes this micromanaging prick. My stance on him hasn’t changed.
Time. Hankins wants his team to go through the offensive line first . It’s taking time to get enough to fill that part.

Like I said above though when a kid looks me in the eye, shakes my hand, answers me yessir, no sir and gets out of his seat to let a young lady sit down well then we can build on that kind of leadership
