the sad part is not that you should probably be watching film or refraining making fun of hurt kids but that some people will take your statement as confirmation and complimentary.

Missed by 1 PAT going to south state. That ain't bad. I know they struggled during the season, but it is what it is.

Yes, it is what it is, but you would have to know what has actually been happening within the program to understand why a change is needed.

There was two minutes and change left had they made the pat. Our defense wasn’t stopping them. Didn’t all night.

Today we would be talking what a heroic effort by their running back playing qb on the game winning drive.

Like i put on the other page. There’s a reason the players aren’t there to field a defense in year four. 1 playoff win over a punching bag is failing. It’s time to turn the page

I get it from your eyes as a fan hometown or whatever but the playoffs yall were rollin like a real put together team despite regular season outcome. Maybe yall should stay playing a playoff games or think yall always in the playoffs in the future no disrespect.

The thing is people blame the coach at WC for where WC is. The program fell off after Coach Mangum left we started loosing discipline. The coach then left and that was along the time covid hit. The school board hired a long time WC assistant as an interim coach and I thought he was doing a pretty good job but we had to forfeit a couple of region games and missed the playoffs. A lot of people wanted him to get the job but the school board went in another direction. Enter Coach Hankins in a definite no win situation because you had parents not letting their kids play because they were mad over the hire. You had people moving their kids to surrounding schools. 
Coach Hankins was in a bad spot and a lot of people haven’t never accepted him. He’s a great guy he won a 3A title in Alabama. Do I agree with everything he does absolutely not but heck I didn’t agree with everything Coach Boyles did. When Marcus was here we had coaches from the middle school on our varsity staff and that made the transition easier. We don’t have the caliber athletes that Marcus did but they’re coming back around. The old saying winning spoils you is definitely true. 
The last five games or so you were seeing some freshman and sophomores playing and that group is very talented. So time will tell where we go from here.

It was a tough spot for Hankins to come in to.  He probably wasn’t the best fit. Hired retired guys from AL that I don’t think were as invested as they should have been.  Good young players.  I can see WC getting on track.  I’m not sure Hankins can overcome the past few years but he is a good guy.

In Coach Hankins defense he came from way off. He thought that athletic superiority is what drove the brand in Wayne County. All the competitors in our class now and in the past has got the same players .
He knows by now that it is and always has been about the coaching taking place in Waynesboro .  What’s he going to do with it ? The code he operates on is soon to be put to the test. Father time will be his ultimate judge as it has been mine.

Maybe I misjudged your sincerity . I’ve done it before in this environment we communicate in on here. Fair enough  .  Start over then.

With that said I know  you have watched us and  have communication with someone that’s been in the current building  Yall take care of them.  so you know why they  don’t do that all the time I’m pretty sure.

Folks can say what they want to about West Point being handed the gold ball every year, but Wayne County should be the team they have to beat.  Wayne County has some great football players and a rich tradition.  They appear to be being mismanaged (and I don't necessarily mean by coaches).  Something is amiss there.  They need to find out what that is and fix it.  If they do they will get back and put a strangle hold on 5A.

After sitting on my thoughts for a couple of weeks and talking to some people in Wayne County . I think I can see what’s happening. It’s not a diabolical revenge plot by the wannabe that walks around with a face so red he looks like he has been in one of those slap contests. 
I think it’s just a means to an end.

You got two lifelong grifting  off the taxpayer  yes men who had been run out of Jones County exiled to Whistler MS. One had been drawing a principals salary and the other was a football coach at his school. Anyway exiled.. Neighbors out there with a dude that was fixture in Wayne County School administration as Superintendent and a school board member..

Without going into the specifics, they are there over the past in this thread as I laid them out.

Fast forward Exile principal is now the unelected Superintendent of Education of Wayne County. Which is a pretty big responsibility with the money that goes through there Slap face is now principal highest salary he’s ever had and oh yeah so is the superintendents.

Football has fell off but their is a small following nothing much families of the forty or so players that have suffered with losing under the yoke of being micromanaged.

 

Things are so rigid that around fifty players have been run off in the last three years. Less players, less people around the school is less exposure to any problems to be dealt with.  Less people asking questions and stirring up problems with decisions and policy.

 

Keep in mind these flame outs had been sacked just a few years before.  You know it had to make them look at their retirements then and now that they are drawing a lot more pay. They don’t want to give that up.  They don’t want anything to jeopardize that and get them run off again. So who cares about football. If they win , they win. If they lose it won’t be a violation of their jobs. Most of all keep those whiny parents and spectators off the property. Community support is a risk of public scandal that could get them run off again.

The stadium and facilities are paid for . They are happy with the stipend the state allocates to them when they check all the boxes on the state reports. I keep this up because some people in Wayne County don’t see the man behind the curtain. He’s in shadows holding a spotlighted check that says you don’t have to do anything special.

I don’t have the answer to it . I do know this.  I could do a better job than the bozo sitting in the big chair. Quit sitting in the office. People will follow a leader and respect honesty.  Include some people in that circle. Nobody has all the answers but together we do. 
 

So in conclusion. Old bureaucrats, behaving like old bureaucrats. Playing it safe. Making sure they get theirs in the end. Doing the bare minimum slow walking to the finish line. Winning will be fleeting.  Anybody that bought in on their “ playoff run “ next season will be right back where we all are this weekend. Watching. 

Maybe we will get some good news for a change.

makes all the sense in the world. I think you nailed it.

Where I work we call them "short-timers". Closing in on retirement,

maximizing their benefit, while minimizing their efforts. The fire

or drive to excel above and beyond is burned out and gone.

That's why you always need some younger lions as part of the whole group.

You then have the wisdom of the old and the energy of the young working

for one goal.

Yeah, I had seen that. I was kind of surprised. I thought South had a pretty good team this year. I thought the overall sentiment in town though was he was still pretty much not liked.

 This line of thinking is exactly why Wayne County is in the pits.  South Jones sucked and it is a measure if the state of things when they crow about a win over them.  
Bubba Hathorne approves. They will probably have a trophy made and put it beside the gold they can’t figure out why is there.

He would probably be a little better than what we have now but I wouldn’t be that excited about it. He’s where he belongs with needing  multiple players going both ways and no more than a couple of mismatch winners among the starters. 
Hathorne will never fire Hankins nor will Hankins resign. Dude is already licking his chops being in a region with Purvis and Northeast Jones. He seems to have forgotten how he was doing the same over the likes Stone and Vancleave.  He will be talking about using them as some kind of benchmark before it’s over with.

Rumors going around about Hathorne retiring but I don’t believe them.

And here lies the problem with the once mighty Wayne County. People are really happy with having a losing season, getting the 3 seed in a bad district, and going to second round because you played a very average South Jones team in the first round. It is really sad that WC has dropped to this level
