Not just hosting but probably hosting somebody from the ACC or G5, if they remain at 6. And you’d likely avoid the SEC & Big 10 champs in the QF if you advance.

Looking at who still has a game to play, Bama at 9 feels like the only school that could probably pass OM if they win the SEC championship. Even then OM would still be the 7 seed, but the matchup in the 7 vs 10 game would likely be a good bit tougher than the 6 vs 11 game. I mean it could quite literally be the difference in playing North Texas or playing Notre Dame.

So, if you are an OM fan, feels like you probably want to be rooting for Georgia to win in Atlanta.

If chalk holds this weekend, Virginia would probably be the 11 seed coming to Oxford. Good team, has had an awesome season relative to their recent history, but their 28th in SP+ which is one spot ahead of 5-7 Auburn. Ole Miss is 7th in SP+. So hypothetically, OM is probably a double digit favorite or close to it if that were the game.

Don’t ask me what happens if a currently 7-5 Duke were to win the ACC title. Lol.

Isn't this where you're better not playing in SEC championship game? If you did and lost, there'd be nowhere to go but down.

Some truth in that, though the opportunity to win a conference title is still appealing to many.

Hosting is great. Hosting a guaranteed win is even better

If nothing had changed from the meeting earlier this season, I'd agree.

Tulane's head coach (and I think most of the staff) are gone after the season but staying for the playoffs... how much (if any) bearing will that have on this game? I'm betting not much... but it's worth a question.

Ole Miss is without their head coach but most of the coaching staff in place for the playoffs with almost all of the defensive coaches returning including the DC now being the head coach. Ole Miss has the talent (I think???) to just beat Tulane IF they don't give up turnovers and make dumb penalties... but we'll see how they perform with the changes in place.

Ole Miss should win.

But if you are an Ole Miss fan, two things are concerning.
1. Playing a team twice and especially one you already beat easily can be problematic. No matter how much the players are cautioned against it, there can be a feeling of complacency that can set in. Tulane has nothing to lose and that can be a dangerous thing for Ole Miss.

2. Coaching upheaval. Now to Ole Miss’ credit, they handled business against State and did not let those distractions affect their performance on the field. Can they do that again? Will not having Kiffin on the sideline affect their performance. History suggests that it will not.

The most dangerous thing for Ole Miss is to let Tulane hang around and keep it a close game in to the fourth quarter.
Most likely they will establish a lead early and be fine. But….if they don’t…
