pancho
FYI-Tupelo QB played 1 series in the 3rd quarter last night vs Oxford. Tupelo is basically a run dominant team without Williams at QB and he is at threat with his legs as well. watchyalips
I like Gulfport as well. Coach Pennock will have them ready. Heidelberg and West Point are the obvious picks. Hattiesburg is another one I'm personally confident in, regardless of their past. Columbia has been tough all year and I'm going with them as well. Hopeful that Raleigh can finish strong also. I have no clue about the 1A game so won't even offer a guess there. Edited November 29, 2025 by watchyalips

Is the gulfport Qb as good as Kiffin is with ball placement? Oxford wasn't as strong a running team as I assumed though.

pancho
yea but they didn't see him step out. Gulfport can beat Tupelo if they can balance the O and hope to keep the Tupelo D off balance

If any team tries to come out and match Heidelberg athlete for athlete, you are going to get run off the field very quickly. They will jump out to a monster lead in the first half and you will be stuck having to throw the ball the rest of the game and you will not accomplish anything doing that against them. The one thing you can do is run the ball against their defense if you have a physical o-line. You absolutely have to slow the game down and control the clock. If EW does not try to do that, they are going to get destroyed. They are not going to keep Heidelberg from scoring, and you cannot try to match them score for score. It’s not possible. You have to keep their offense on the sideline, and you have to hope to generate some turnovers. Mize pretty much dominated time of possession and still gave up 46 points. We did run the ball effectively at them with the option. We had over 200 yards rushing if I had to guess. They could not stop it consistently enough to keep us from getting first downs, but EW doesn’t run that style of offense so I don’t really know what they can do to be honest.
EnterpriseBulldogsFan
Nobody in 2A is going to beat Heidelberg this year or next they are like a 6A or 7A team playing in 2A I do agree they will fall off after next year.
Chunky6617
I just noticed Heidelberg has entered their stats from the game Friday night and they have Chase Craft going 8-12 passing for 170 something yards. I know for a fact that is not accurate. He was more like 8-18 maybe. The yardage could be accurate because they scored on a 70 something yard pass on their first possession. But the completion percentage is not accurate. Makes me question all of their stats now.

I don’t believe they will be quite as good next season as they were this season. Still very good, but not quite like this year. They return a lot of offensive production but they graduate several on defense after this year. Offensively they should still be very explosive. Although they make this years game competitive. Warren Central 27-20 - West Point names the score. #TooMuchPoint 35 -7 - Kosciusko proves what I’ve been saying all year. They are the best team in 4A. KO 28-13 - Raleigh and Noxubee County play the most competitive game of the weekend. Raleigh 21-20 - Heidelberg does what they do. Congrats to EW on 2nd place. Should have had a PowerPoint system and you could have thrown a game or two to win the consolation prize. Heidelberg 46-14 - Calhoun City rolls. pancho
gulfport tupelo might hinge on how healthy the tupelo QB is. the 3 headed rushing monster is cut in half if he can't be on the field
pancho
how balanced is the gulfport offense? Tupelo D will be the best thing gulfport has seen all year. It often takes tupelo a lil bit to figure out what the other teams offense wants to do and then makes an adjustment or two to end up winning the game. coastfootballfanman
They are relatively balanced. Quarterback has 2200 yards passing. Running back has about 1500 yards rushing. They definitely will lean on the run game when they need a big play or if it is a crucial down/situation.
dogsoldier74
I'm wondering what the field conditions will be like when Tupelo and Gulfport play. Lots of rain on thursday and 6 games in 3 days before you step on the field could make it a muddy mess by saturday night
Bender20
7A lean to Tilupelo but Gulfport hot 6A Hattiesburg 5A West Point 4A Columbia but they been struggling some so close and could see Kozy winning 3A Nox 2A Heidelberg 1A CC
