Which is crazy seeing as how not too long ago they had a guy serving time for embezzling money through a children’s hospital to pay players but now have enough to have 3 head coaches still on payroll plus NIL. John Funes gotta be wondering what the heck happened all of a sudden.
pancho
Yes but I assure you that they do not care.

Dawg83
Looks like Weis eventually going to LSU but will coach OM in the playoff. How nice of Kiffin to let him OM borrow Weis a few more weeks. What a great guy!*** Edited December 2, 2025 by Dawg83

There was a rumor OM would give Kiffin 40m, then all teams in the running offered 25m, then one of the deciding factors was LSU offering more NIL money. pancho
Frank Wilson may end up coaching at ole miss. RB coach Smith currently of ole miss appears to be waiting to see who wants Kewan Lacey the most and will go as a package deal with him. Former Coach
20 hours ago, coastfootballfanman said: Maybe it is a 25 million dollar pledge on top of what they already have in place? A situation where LSU says we currently have 20 million in NIL, we are upping it by 25 million and making it 45? Schools are no longer allowed to promise recruits any third party NIL deal verbally or in writing. After the House revenue sharing ruling came down each school is allowed up to 20.5 million to distribute to athletes. An NIL Clearinghouse was also created that requires mandatory reporting of any NIL deal above $600 to the NIL Go Portal. It must meet the criteria of a legitimate payor (not just a booster funnel of money) be a valid business purpose for NIL (not a recruiting or signing inducement) and be fair market (compared to similar endorsements). Deals can be flagged, restructured or denied if deemed improper by the Clearinghouse. In other words the player must actually This means compensation must be tied to a real promotional activity, such a s a social media campaign or personal appearances, not just for being on the team. So every deal above $600 is on the radar for approval.
Dawg83
Matt Campbell to Penn State appears to be happening. Honestly a really good hire after a mess of a search. On the DC front, State appears to be chasing bigger names. Went after Durkin first and supposedly have been in discussions with Brent Pry this week. We will see how that shakes out. They really need to get this one right.
hasbeen67
I think they should at least try for Durkin. He may be staying it sounds like. He may be thinking stay, have another good year, and get a head coach job. Edited December 5, 2025 by hasbeen67

But Golesh decided to stick with him and I presume a coach like him that’s worked all over the country for a long time probably doesn’t want to relocate his family anymore than necessary. DrownInEtown
Good hire for Penn State. Bout time somebody got him out of there
Dawg83
Cannot believe I’m typing this, but Zach Arnett is returning to State as defensive coordinator. Liked him as Leach’s DC, I genuinely did…. But I am SHOCKED by this on many many levels. Edited December 6, 2025 by Dawg83
Bulldogs4
Interesting to say the least. But he was put into an impossible situation after Leach died. Admittedly he handled it terribly. We know can coach defense so I am good with it. Kind of excited actually.
Dawg83
And it appears we will have a USM coaching search now… Charles Huff to Memphis in the closing stages. Huff is the embodiment of the phrase “here for a good time, not for a long time”. Lol
Bulldogs4
Not too surprised by that. With all these openings it was inevitable that he was going to be scooped up by somebody.
Dawg83
Well, Derrick Nix not going back to OM may suddenly make a lot more sense. Gotta think he will be in the mix for this job at the very least.
DrownInEtown
Arnett has been in the mix for DC candidates in the SEC. I think he was a solid DC at State. Good hire if true

Dawg83
It appears Tulane is hiring Will Hall as their head coach. Would be fascinated to get thoughts from a USM fan on that.
pancho
not a big usm football fan but man, this reeks of a huge screw up. seems the govna down there told Baker(LSU DC) to stay put if he wanted a shot down the line of being the LSU HC after he had verbally accepted the Tulane job. desperation hire at tulane
coastfootballfanman
I do not see how this was the right move at all. He did not recruit well at USM. Whiffed on HS (or did not recruit them) and Portal players left and right. Surely there were better options out there? Did they not reach out to call anyone? As a Tulane alum and former player, this hire pisses me off. I like Will Hall. I think he is a good assistant coach, but he proved he was not ready for being a head coach at the FBS level. I would have rather promoted Craddock (OC) and Gasparato (DC) Edited December 8, 2025 by coastfootballfanman
