How? I thought they were winless two weeks ago.

3.  They are 3-6/7 all 3 wins in district.  3-1 in district.  Play south jones next week.  Winner is 2nd place in district.  Looser is 3rd I think.  South may fall to 4th if they get beat.

They got roasted by Mize

Taylorsville would not be very competitive in 2A. They would probably be equivalent to like a Loyd Star. Good but not great. On the other hand, they are probably my 1A south favorite right now. Especially if they have home field advantage

I’m tired of Laurel falling upwards.  Gravity needs to do it’s job.

wont happen unless the state goes back to 6 classes.  Or WJ/hattiesburg/picayune drop to 5A.

if jones county school district does what they trying west may drop to 5A

If I am correct they would host East Marion in Round 3 and go to Nanih Waiya or Simmons for South State.

East Marion is back in 2A. They will play West Lincoln 1st round, winner of South Delta/Ethel 2nd round, and probably Leake County 3rd round. They definitely have the weaker side of the bracket. Simmons, Lumberton, Stringer, and Nanih Waiya will all clash on the other side of the south bracket.

Bogue Chitto 3rd round on the road and Nanih Waiya Or Simmons on the road in South State barring any upset. I do expect upsets. Lumberton will probably beat Salem.

I feel like Bogue Chitto won’t make it past Leake County 2nd round. Honestly I think they could be on upset watch this week against Richton. Richton may be the best 4 seed in the whole class besides arguably Noxapater. Lumberton should beat Salem pretty easily. Even though it’s cool they had a winning season and they’re hosting a playoff game, they’re still on a different level as a team like Lumberton. I’m curious to see how Simmons does against a non Delta team (Noxapater) 1st round.

Nah it was a close game. We were losing in the beginning of the 4th quarter. We had multiple turnovers that game too that kept Tville in it. If we played them again, and were turnover free, we would roast them now.

My point is that Taylorsville lost to a 3 seed 2A team by two TD's, in reference to this post about Taylorsville:

I disagree.

Gotcha. No, they wouldn’t compete in 2A. They would have been a 4 seed in region 6

Tville have beat the two teams yall said they couldn’t. Stringer and Lumberton. Stringer was supposed to out coach Tville and win the game by two scores. Lumberton was supposed to beat stringer and win district. Also Tville turned the ball over against Mize as well. That’s a part of the game. Baysprings took a punt back and a pick 6. They had the ball inside the 10 5 times and came away with nothing. They scored a safety on defense and a sack fumble on defense. They tried throwing the ball around didn’t work. Since the last lost they have been running the ball which seems to be there strong suit. I love Tville and I think they have been playing really good football lately. There defense has been giving up 6 points a game until the second and third teams get in the game. Let’s give credit where it’s do. The coaches have put the guys in position to be successful.

I agree that Taylorsville is playing much better football now than they were early season. That Stringer game completely changed the trajectory of their season. I think Stringer was entirely too confident going into that game, and Taylorsville had something to prove. The second half of that game was where Taylorsville finally found their groove. They should continue to win all the way to south state. Doesn’t really matter what they would have done back in the glory days or how they would do in 2A because I think they will be in 1A probably for the foreseeable future. I know this year they graduate a whole bunch, but i’m sure they will continue to be competitive in 1A for several years to come.
