I was hoping for 50 and a running clock at the end there, but Coach Hig took gracious mercy and kneeled it. Maybe had he heard mattox yelling at him earlier in the game to get off the **** field, when it was the referee who asked him to come out there to tell him about a penalty, he wouldn’t have took that knee. As far as leaving the starters in, it wasn’t like it was 60-0 and a running clock since halftime or anything. Somewhat Tight game for a half. Also, and I wasn’t at the baseball game so I’m going off what I’m told, it could’ve been a little bit of payback for baseball. From what I understand, starters were left in on the Mize side and a lot stealing was going on in like a 20 to 0 type game. Running the score up in baseball because you cant get it done on the football field. Edited September 20 by Rusty Shackleford

I actually believe that might be true. I can believe that. What you were told about that baseball game is untrue however. The score did get run up, but it was with our varsity and JV combined, and in baseball you can’t call the game until a certain amount of innings are played. Raleigh can beat mize in football. They can’t beat mize in baseball, basketball, softball, volleyball, or any other sport… so thank God they have this one sport to hang their hat on. For now. Raleigh has a good football program. Mize has a good ATHLETICS program.

Your defense is what makes you dominant, and I guarantee you that we had more yards against your defense than anybody else has so far and may have all season. I’m not sure about d’iberville. And enjoy it this season, because this game next season won’t be enjoyable for you. I think Mize offense is a work in progress that maybe gets better as the season goes along. But again, we did take a knee. Hig didn’t run it up. And Mize kept their starters out there too. Wasn’t like we had the starters out there against the backups. Great kick return by 8 setup one touchdown and the hook and ladder and then the lucky catch off the tip set up the other touchdown. Other than that, mize offense didn’t do much at all. Has that ATHLETICS program made it to south state in any sport since moving up to 2a twenty years ago?

Mize offense is turnover prone and it hurts them. Defensively i don't think they knew who had the ball. They got boat raced and they were overpursing the ball carrier. And yes they were falling down before the rb was getting to them. Lots of arm tackles.

Certainly you don’t want to compare our athletic programs at any period of time. Football, yes. Overall, no. And I hope y’all get your 2nd title this season. I really do. That will get you halfway to us in state championships.

I really didn’t know if yall had made it past 3rd round in anything since the move to 2a. I know football made third round a few times. Wasn’t sure on other sports. Mize will beat Raleigh again one day. Who knows, it maybe next year like you say. We will have to see when it gets here. At least this current staff will play Raleigh. I’ll give them credit for that. Lee and his bunch took us off the schedule in 2019 in favor of West Lincoln. Left us with a bye in week 1. It was very close to the season and couldn’t find a replacement that late in the game. He knew they had NO chance of competing much less winning. Would’ve loved to seen what Get would’ve done in 2021 and 2022. Might would’ve had 500 each game. But then again, much like last night, Hig probably would’ve shown mercy.

Charles Ray Lee took us off their schedule after beat Mize 30-0 in a called game after 3 qtrs. As I remember the center for Mize was injured in the game. Bobby Halls boys were tough. We ruined their undefeated season the year before on a late td. The Lee family has never forgot. Coach Robinson a Raleigh grad put us back on. We will see how things go going forward. Chunky6617
All county rivalry games should always be played unless it’s a large school and a small school. It’s good for the communities. That’s what high school football is about.

Bay Springs said Raleigh physically hurt his players. Maybe mentally as well since many are neighbors with each other especially those just north of Sylvarena, many work in Bay Springs and shop there. There really is no reason to shop in Raleigh. That hurts Smith County economics.
