If they started practice on Monday and wore helmets on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, they could practice with pads on Thursday and Friday. I am sure there were some teams that didn't follow the rules and I doubt the MHSAA will do anything depending on the school.

No pads of any kind, during the 1st week.  Helmets are the exception.

Be careful before mentioning names. We all no the media could have done some filming during spring practice as part of their plan to air each team.

I wasn't going to, but there are a few using the old rules.

(During the first five (5) days of fall football practice, players shall not wear football pads of any kind, football togs, or football jerseys. Helmets, face guards, mouthpieces, and shoes may be worn. No other pads would be added (see 14-day heat acclimatization on www.misshsaa.com, General, Health & Safety page).

They have had summer workouts and should be in shape.

You are wrong on that statement. It clearly states in the handbook 5 days(M-F) only helmets

From the Handbook-(With the beginning of fall football practice, players shall not wear football pads of any kind, football togs or football jerseys. Week 1 (Monday through Friday) helmets, face guards, mouthpieces and shoes are legal for the first week of practice (5 days). Week 2 Monday through Friday, shoulder pads can be worn – shorts/shoulder pads and helmets. After the completion of weeks 1 and 2, players can begin to practice in full gear.)

We are in Week 2.

I don't disagree, but that isn't what the rule says.  It says no pads of any kind for the 1st 5 days, not you can put pads on if you are in shape.  We already have a lot of schools breaking the rules with the soft shells.  If you are going to make the rules then enforce them.  I don't agree with the rule.  I think you should be able to wear the soft shells and starting wearing shoulder pads by at least day 4.

The following schools have been put on one year disciplinary probation and fined this week per report from MHSAA:

Brandon

Columbia

I see 3 teams who are very capable of getting to their respective title games. Possibly 4. They better be on their best behavior from here on out.

One of those teams has already been in trouble over the past 2 years for violating practice rules... Not surprised to see them here at all.

So do they want teams to practice or not?  Either you practice or you don't.  If they want to simplify this thing, just say after such and such date you can practice.

Oh they want them to practice. How and when they want them to. LOL Don't ya know the MHSAA is all about player safety and acclimatation?! 🤣
