doyouevencoachbro
I have seen a few people post on Twitter(X) of teams practicing with pads on last week. There are even some, who did it while the news cameras were around. Smaller schools did the same thing recently and had the books thrown at them. Will the MHSAA do the same thing to those bigger schools?
BallCoach
If they started practice on Monday and wore helmets on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, they could practice with pads on Thursday and Friday. I am sure there were some teams that didn't follow the rules and I doubt the MHSAA will do anything depending on the school.

Helmets are the exception.
Rebel Bert
Be careful before mentioning names. We all no the media could have done some filming during spring practice as part of their plan to air each team.

(During the first five (5) days of fall football practice, players shall not wear football pads of any kind, football togs, or football jerseys. Helmets, face guards, mouthpieces, and shoes may be worn. No other pads would be added (see 14-day heat acclimatization on www.misshsaa.com, General, Health & Safety page). It clearly states in the handbook 5 days(M-F) only helmets
coastball
From the Handbook-(With the beginning of fall football practice, players shall not wear football pads of any kind, football togs or football jerseys. Week 1 (Monday through Friday) helmets, face guards, mouthpieces and shoes are legal for the first week of practice (5 days). Week 2 Monday through Friday, shoulder pads can be worn – shorts/shoulder pads and helmets. After the completion of weeks 1 and 2, players can begin to practice in full gear.) I don't disagree, but that isn't what the rule says. It says no pads of any kind for the 1st 5 days, not you can put pads on if you are in shape. We already have a lot of schools breaking the rules with the soft shells. If you are going to make the rules then enforce them. I don't agree with the rule. I think you should be able to wear the soft shells and starting wearing shoulder pads by at least day 4.

Prince of Darkness
The following schools have been put on one year disciplinary probation and fined this week per report from MHSAA: Brandon Taylorsville Gulfport Laurel Picayune Franklin County Biloxi Mt. Guntriple
There might be some more coming down. I know several that were on social media wearing girdles during week 2 that aren’t on that list yet. Dubaction
Probation…. What does that entail exactly?

For those that have not self reported they may miss the playoffs.

Guntriple
The stupid thing in the rule is it says you can’t where a football jersey during week 1. Tell me how many teams went out without a practice jersey on during the first week. I would bet close to zero!
maroontide06
So do they want teams to practice or not? Either you practice or you don't. If they want to simplify this thing, just say after such and such date you can practice.
coastball
Those are just the teams that self-reported according to sources I know. What percentage didn't self report?

LOL Don't ya know the MHSAA is all about player safety and acclimatation?!
