It was going through the stands last night that this was the last game Hankins will be standing on the sidelines with WC. I will believe it when I see it.

I could go on and on about what's wrong. Everybody knows by now.

If I have time I am going to put together his historical accomplishments while leading our young men.

The man responsible for the mess we see apparently wasn't there because I looked for him. Mad I was.  There is a lot that needs to be said about that too.

It was 14-7 at halftime. I talked to the Brookhaven guy operating the gate the gate letting staff and players onto the track on our side. He said ya'll should be ahead of us right now . This will be a struggle in the second. I replied to him it might as well be 114-7. He said I don't see it . I said you will. 

As I walked by him leaving he spoke up and said you was right.

People that remember what we used to come to town with aren't laughing anymore. They are offering condolences with pity.

Laurel back to the state finals. Brookhaven I wasn’t really impressed with. They clowned on us I know but there was a moment in that game . That they looked out of their element a little.

Physicality wise.  Then our sideline showed off their ability and

flipped the game right back into Brookhavens wheelhouse. Then did it again about five minutes later. Laurel won’t do that. They will continue to try and score.

Anyway Laurel will go to Starkville.

If you ever traveled the backroads through Tennessee or Kentucky you will see these Daniel Boone slept here or Davy Crockett slept here type roadside attractions for you to stop and look at . . You can put a plaque outside Davis Wase that reads Laurel or Brookhaven for that matter slept here.

Because they about to get beat to sleep

I think they will. Laurels coach for better or worse is battled tested at this stage of the postseason. I don’t think Brookhavens is . With it being the last Friday I might go watch .

I hope Brookhaven has Laurel by the throat and there’s a running clock in the 2nd half. I want the Laurel faithful to wake up from the dream that they are actually a good team. They aren’t.

What a pathetic mess this bunch of JV level coaching 5A South has.

Brookhaven had looked close to eighty players dressed I saw against Wayne County.

Laurel's defense and  Wayne County's defense was comprised of the players they picked over  to field an offense. Neither were good enough to give their offense a chance as the game wore on .

 

Congrats on riding to Starkville in December and getting manhandled into submission I guess.

Maybe Ole Brook will have some good luck.  You never know until the game is played. South 5 A, thanks to having 7 classifications, is not a strong league. Everyone knows this is fact. All you can do is play the teams on your schedule. I look for a new staff at Wayne County, TBA, to turn them around rather quickly.

It's the first week of December . If you were leaving as a coach and knew it, why wouldn't you announce it so things kind of could begin to start moving a little towards a transition ? 

Coach Sims has already said he's not coming back down the road.

 

Unless you floated a few rumors around that you were leaving to quell down the angst of another historically bad season.

I think as the season wore on I wasn't right about any the finalists in 7,6 or 5A and how it would play out. These new classes have really blurred the lines.

 

In person I thought WC and Laurel matched up with Brookhaven size wise.

Tonight they looked much bigger than WP and basically just pushed WP around as the game wore on.

Brookhaven coach had them ready. Good job . They left no doubt.

If it wasn’t for Brookhaven turning the ball over four times this game would have really been ugly.  I will be the first to admit I was wrong on this game. I will also admit I was completely wrong about that one too. I'm not gonna pretend like I had some epiphany about Ole Brook prior to the game. I fully expected WP to be the bully instead of the bullied. Congrats to Ole Brook on a statement win on the big stage!

5A was going to catch up with West Point eventually; they'll probably win the north for a few more years but it will be hard for them to beat Brookhaven next year if both reach the state championship game; Brookhaven returns a lot of this team while WP loses a lot especially on defense.
