Finally WJ will try to pass more this season with transfer Kylan at WR who had a great year at Stringer

also had a starting wr return off the 23 team that last year was playing at north Forrest after some issues forced him to live with family in Forrest county.

I think the top 4 in Region 4 is accurate, but I'm honestly curious to see what is going to happen when Pascagoula and Gautier face off.  Who's going to want it more?  Pascagoula should have more talent, but that doesn't mean Gautier can't win this one.

I think this is the year for Pascagoula. I know 6A south is pretty competitive but I don’t know if there are many teams that can match them talent wise.

Since 1997(1st matchup against Goula in Dodd Lee era), Picayune has gone 17-5 against Pascagoula.  That's not something you can really complain about if you're a Picayune fan.  Pascagoula knows what's coming every time they play Picayune.  With that being said, I expect it to be a great ball game and hopefully it will be.

QB play will be the key for Goula this season if they are going to make a run. Same thing for Hattiesburg. WJ has the most experienced QB returning. And Picayune doing what they do doesnt really need a QB.

I have to disagree to an extent.  Picayune definitely needs a QB.  You might think it's not an integral part of the offense, but Picayune's offense doesn't work without one.  Having a solid passing attack to complement the running game is definitely a requirement in my book.  You need both and you need both to be successful.

6A south will once again be a gauntlet. Pascagoula, Picayune, West Jones and Hattiesburg are probably the top 4 on paper. Hattiesburg has seemed to reload with a few transfers this off-season as well as some younger players stepping up. QB play will be key for sure. Picayune will be picayune. Hard nosed, disciplined and tough. If Pascagoula can stay healthy and get decent quarterback play from their sophomore, I like their chances to compete. West Jones brings back a good bit of talent too and will be well coached and tough. Wild card will be Gautier. 3 straight trips to south state in 5A (I know it was not very tough), have to imagine they will be a tough out. They lost QB1 in converted RB Solomon Baggett to Ocean Springs this summer so that will hurt I imagine along with replacing some great players on defense. Shaping up to be a fun year.

They do have to play Picayune.  Just thought I'd throw that out there. LOL

I think it’s between Pascagoula and Picayune. Pascagoula does have to replace their starting QB while Picayune has to replace that RB who I think was severely underrated. Not to sure about WJ and I think Hattiesburg is the true question mark. Hattiesburg allegedly has transfers who weren’t eligible for the spring game. Hattiesburg still has to find a QB and they have a new coaching staff with a first time head coach.

Our biggest loss is not having Bam back.  I’m going to miss him, but we will be just fine at RB.

Not sure about transfers who were ineligible, but I do know some football players that didnt play due to the fact they were playing baseball and running track

As far as the coaching staff, it is not entirely new. The offensive coordinator stayed and 3 of the position coaches are still on staff as well.

Yes HHS will do good like last year but hope a better finish. Qb transfers seems to be quality players that's eager to win.

I'd be surprised if Hattiesburg are not as good like last year.

Even though you’ll be surprised, I don’t think anyone else will be.  Hattiesburg won’t be bad, but they certainly won’t be as good or better than last year and that is a reasonable expectation.  Region 3-6A is still going to be between West Jones and Hattiesburg.  George County has a prime opportunity to play spoiler, so I’m curious to see how they factor into the 3-6A race as well.

The 2 keys for HHS this season will be QB and D-Line. They have the weapons on offense as the starting RB from last yr returns, everyone knows that Keys is back at WR, had a WR transfer in to take the pressure off him just like Barnett did last season. On the defensive side HHS must replace all 4 of the D-Line so that may be a weak spot to start the season. The secondary will be ok with 2 starters returning. One being John Tarvin, who committed to LA Tech a couple of weeks ago. They could possibly face some adversity early on, but when region play starts they should be fine. A return to at least south state will not be a shock. 4 wins in non region play would be outstanding.

Hattiesburg has a brand new HC in a brand new state.  If he doesn't try to reinvent the wheel Hattiesburg should be ok, but there will probably be some growing and learning pains with that, so be patient.  Vance got Hattiesburg right where they needed to get last year and that was a prime opportunity missed.  Both Picayune and Pascagoula will be better this year, so it may be more difficult for Hattiesburg to navigate their way to a South State title game.  You're also going to have to factor in West Jones to that equation as well.  Whoever gets to the South State title game will have definitely earned it.

Goula is in the same boat offensively as HHS. Lots of talent on that side of the ball but QB will be the key for them as well.
