pancho
ole miss pitching had way too many BB's as Murray had a good patient approach at the plate and attacked in favorable counts. They had a couple good swings that left the yard but overall the hits were few and far between and they chased the 72-75 mph breakers and missed. Bulldogs4
USM with a tremendous comeback to stay alive. OM holds off a pesky Murray State ball club to play another game Sunday. One game at a time. State trailing FSU 2-1 in the third inning in what is shaping up to be a heck of a good game tonight.
Bulldogs4
Well check that thought. Free Shoes blowing us out now.
maroontide06
Arnold was on another level tonight, but State didn’t help themselves in the pitching or hitting department tonight. Gonna have to play two and win two tomorrow.
Dawg83
I don’t see State climbing back from this hole now. Just don’t think the pitching depth is there and would have to beat FSU twice. I could see a path to them wining two games MAYBE, but even then I don’t know who the heck they’d have left to pitch if it got to Monday. I actually like OM and USM’s paths back pretty good. If OM can get past Georgia Tech tomorrow then it’s just a matter of beating Murray State twice, which isn’t some crazy thought. USM will have to beat Columbia and then Miami twice, again will be tough but not impossible. Bama being out of that Regional already is a big help for their chances, IMO. Dawg83
Weekend certainly not over but the SEC is having a rough tournament so far. Only 4 of the 13 teams are in the winner’s bracket. And the SEC is something like 0-5 against the ACC so far. Even Texas and Vandy are in the loser’s bracket.
Bulldogs4
State’s wildness on the mound that was so bad earlier in the year has reared its ugly head again last night and again today. Uggghhh
Bulldogs4
Bottom line is win baby. We can beat FSU once but not sure we can beat them twice. Obviously their pitching is going to drop off some from last night. We will see later what happens.
Dawg83
Big innings from Stone Simmons today to preserve bullpen. Siary obviously gave a very good start. I have very low expectations for State getting past FSU but who knows.
Bulldogs4
Ligon & Sullivan are capable starters. Getting a good six innings from Ligon tonight will give us a chance. Certainly we can hit the ball but we wasted so many opportunities earlier today. Powell should have tagged on gone home on the line drive to CF in the eighth inning. Inexcusable there. If he gets thrown out at home, then fine. But you have to make them make a play there. FSU is good but not completely unbeatable. But I am like you 83, just don’t see us winning two straight against them.

Dawg83
FSU eliminates State…. And now we wait for the news.
Bulldogs4
Game effort by our guys but FSU was the better team. McPherson with some bad luck with the errant throw to second and then the strike three that was called ball four. We will see what the news brings on a new coach soon enough I suppose. Dawg83
Officially official. Brian O’Connor is State’s head coach. Take a bow, Zac Selmon.
Bulldogs4
That is tremendous news. Baseball program should be in good hands for years to come. A big thank you to Coach Parker for the job he did over the last month with this team. Competed very well all the way to the end.
Dawg83
And tomorrow we have both USM and Ole Miss with a chance to host Super Regionals with one more win. OM would host Duke if they can finish off Murray State, USM would host Louisville if they can finish off Miami.

Dawg83
Well…. Thought we might get a beatdown at Swayze tonight… don’t think I saw Murray State giving the beating though. This has been a bloodbath.

Dawg83
Murray State wins. Wow. What a crazy game. This may go down as the weirdest super regional field ever depending on if Little Rock can finish off LSU….
Bulldogs4
And down goes USM. Tonight kind of ends the season with a thud. Certainly disappointing for both USM and OM. Especially OM whom I thought could out slug Murray. MIA is a quality team so I knew that game was going to be a dogfight. SEC for all the criticism it has received actually is in line with the number of bids the conference received. 13 out of 64 is just over 20% of the bids and it appears that 4 of the 16 SR Teams will be SEC which is 25%. So not bad overall.

Dawg83
Saw this morning that Virginia now has 20 players in the portal since O’Connor left. Gotta think several of those are Starkville bound. And there is some serious talent among those.
