Vott
Where do yall anticipate the 2023 title games to be played at this season?
maroontide06
If they keep it at Southern Miss, I’m fine with that. I don’t think there will be any Tennessee fans there complaining about there not being an Applebees in Hattiesburg.
Dubaction
Hopefully Hattiesburg but wouldn’t surprise me if they get State or OM back in rotation

I cant blame them though. I hope its at Southern Miss as well. If not, I have already requested to be off that Friday anyway. So I am good either way. With the addition of the 7th game, it makes me wonder if they want to play it on grass in December. I realize State and OM have pristine grass fields and I think they would be able to hold up for seven games, but I think the championship games will have to be played over the course of 3 days instead of 2. That's another factor you'll have to consider as well. I just don't want the thing in Oxford LOL!

Especially if rainy weather does come in that weekend and it is at Ole Miss or MSU.

I think this is the format that makes the most sense. They've got the athletic schedule on the MHSAA website for the 2023-2024 school year and it mentions the dates of November 30th, December 1st, & December 2nd (which is a Thursday, Friday, & Saturday). choctawman
I think it will be just like Alabama's. 1,3,and 3. I do not see them changing the 3 game format on Friday and Saturday.
Rebel Bert
Artificial turf high school fields in the Jackson area would be fare.
NoWammies
If only JSU would get that dome that was mentioned on here 10 years ago.

slicklizard
Hattiesburg hands down is the best host site. You can see the whole field in that stadium. Ole Miss has terrible sight lines and MSU is not far behind. Long desolate drives with vast spans of nothing. No thanks. Keep it close to the most populated areas of the state not up in hazzard county. Does anyone have the totals for the last couple years in Hattiesburg versus other places. Even still.. they shouldn’t and most likely wouldn’t hold 7 state championship games at a high school. If it’s not one of the big 3 they will play at Veterans. Bulldogs4
Agree that the Rock is the most appropriate venue. State and Ole Miss are too big along with the fact Oxford is a long pull for almost everyone. Starkvegas is not too bad geographically. Jackson is still the most centrally located but the Vet is a third world stadium these days. I think a 2-2-3 format would be the best way to handle the extra game but I suspect it will be 1-3-3. Bender20
It's going to stay in Hattiesburg imo. SEC schools don't want it.
NoWammies
If wanted to switch it from north/south locations and the SEC schools didn’t wanna be involved, could always play it at DSU in Cleveland. Got plenty places for out of towners to stay, good local eats and turf field. They’ve been able to hold multiple little league and Dixie youth regional championships that involved up to 8 states without problems. Negative is it’s the delta so you shoooooo gonna have long desolate drive with vast span of nothing. Rebel Bert
Back in the 80s I know the 3A was held at Hinds. Use 2 artificial stadium high schools in the Jackson area. That way all games can be on Friday and Saturday.

Then you would have to find more people to work concessions work the gates, and have security. Also you have to have the MHSAA director to present the trophy. He couldnt do it if you held it in separate locations. Also casual football fans like myself want to be able to see every game. coastfootballfanman
What is average attendance for state championship games? I know it’s not a “sexy pick” but if they wanted to do it more centrally located to Jackson, Robinson-Hale in Clinton wouldn’t be a bad choice. I think it holds close to 10k. I agree USM is a much better option than State or Ole Miss if they are keeping it at one of the FBS stadiums.

Just because there has been many local teams within a 50 mile radius of Hburg. Youve had Lumberton ,Jeff Davis Co, Columbia, West Jones, Oak Grove, Bay Springs and Picayune all play for a state title when it was at so miss.
