Should have beat Clarkdale but Union was a better team who strong points were Enterprise’s weakness both offensively and defensively. Enterprise had a weak secondary and Union’s strongpoint was passing. Defensively Union was strong against the run with a good front seven and was able to slow Enterprise’s run down game enough to where it was 2nd/3rd down long yardage and then the score got far enough that y’all had to pass more than usual.

We stunk it up against Union. If Morton could take Union to OT and Wesson could beat Union we should have beat Union since Enterprise was better than both those teams. We just didn't show up but we should have little trouble with Kemper McLaurin and SE.

Any other jamborees scheduled this week? Before yet another thread is hijacked by Enterprise talk…

The swarming termites have been awful this whole week in Picayune.  Tomorrow’s game against Slidell starts at 5:30 and the gates will open at 4:30.  Hopefully it will be over before dusk.

I plan on checking out the stream for that if it’s up. Slidell is usually pretty decent. I’m actually a little surprised you guys don’t schedule them more often for a regular season cross state matchup.

Picayune used to play Slidell years ago in football and when I say that it was like pre Dodd Lee era.  He did play Bogalusa his first couple of years, but I think that got way too nasty.  He then scheduled Jesuit out of New Orleans and they came to Picayune for a two year series back in the late 90’s.  Catholic will be the first Louisiana team we will have played since  Jesuit.

Correction:  Picayune played Slidell in 2007, but it’s been a while since we’ve played a team from Louisiana.

I’ll be attending the spring jamboree this weekend at Delta State.
I have tons of inside news to share with Sportstalk but just decide to hold it for the right moment. This weekend will definitely be the perfect moment lol.. get your popcorn ready! IE athletics!

I have no idea if they streamed last night's game or not, but Picayune looked good from everything that I saw.  We did have some false starts, but that's to be expected with all of the transition.  Our defense really showed up last night and I think they have a chance to be saltier than last year.

I could be wrong but I doubt they can be Shaw again while part of West Bolivar District school system.

From WBCSD's FB account on May 10, 2023:

West Bolivar Consolidated School District

  ·

The Senior Class at McEvans School, soon to be Shaw High School, received a total of $2.8 million in scholarship offers.

2A South will be wide open and very competitive next season. Pretty excited about it. Scott Central, Raleigh, and Bay Springs all lost a lot of talent from last season but their JV was really good too. They will still be good next season. Mize is going to be good next season, and should be good for a few years. Collins should eventually get back to being competitive as well. Philadelphia always has athletes and should be competitive.

Best not to be 2-4 in Region 8 or you may be 1 and done against region 5. Raleigh and Bay Springs  has plenty of talent to rule the south.

Yeah we looked good on defense. We had a few players sitting out including the starting QB because of baseball playoffs but it was interesting to see Ole Miss DC Pete Golding and the new Bama OC from Notre Dame and a few others standing on the sideline checking out some Picayune talent.

Yes that was definitely something special to see.  I don’t ever recall Picayune having that many D1 scouts at a game before.  If we weren’t on the radar before, I guess we are now.

Congratulations,  NoWammies on the addition of a newborn to your family!
After some careful thought and consideration I probably won’t make the Spring Game today either. I got to start fast ahead on a big weekend/week.. getting ready to begin the initial stages on this journey of obtaining Dr. in front of my family’s last name! Nothing means more than family bud and that’s what I respect about knowing the type of family guy you are NoWammies!
As for the 5x State Champions, I saw one practice this whole spring and there was a sizable roster compared to previous spring trainings.
OAN: According to my sources,🚨 I was pointed in the direction of social media and just read that according to the Riverside Bulldogs Facebook page the opening matchup today between Riverside and McEvans ended 0-0.

Hollandale won against O’Bannon. The score report I saw was 36-0.
Get your popcorn ready!

It was voted on at a February board meeting. At the conclusion of this school year Shaw’s site will be back to McEvans Elementary and Shaw High. The principal for McEvans will govern grades k-6th and Shaw High principal grades 7th-12th. Colors for now will remain maroon, gold and white for all schools for now and mascot will remain Warriors for both.

So either Shaw is taking a long step backwards or Riverside is very much improved. No other surprises to speak of

Shaw had a huge senior class of skill positions outside of qb offensively and defensively with not a lot of inferences on allowing the upcoming talent getting playing time and experience at those skill positions under the previous coach. I think all of the summer and most of the none district game’s focus for Shaw is just evaluating who fit the skill positions. They should be fine once they get towards district play, done evaluating the talent for the skill positions, and  learning the playbook and defenses of the new coaching staff.

I cant speak too much on Riverside. Seems improved but not nearly as much. Ive read where a fan said they left TDs, which were obvious penalties plays called against them and just letting them have fun on those plays.
