I’m probably in the minority but August games don’t bother me. The primary reason most people complain about them is because of the heat. They’ve already pushed back early season game kickoff times to 7:30. And they give players the necessary heat timeouts. Don’t even get me started on people complaining that don’t even attend live games.

August games don't really bother me either Dub.  I'm probably like everyone else wishing it was cooler and less humid that time of year and wanting a break from mowing grass, but with the 7:30 start time the sun is mostly set without that 2:00 in the afternoon frying heat.  It's still hot and humid and you're still going to sweat but things could be worse and I've experienced that before.

That’s fair. I just don’t notice a huge difference between the last weekend in August and the first week in September. That’s just my opinion though

Well there certainly isn't any difference in South Mississippi.  There may be some difference around Corinth or Southaven, but probably not.

Vancleave is our big season finale. Only thing that would round this district out would be Northeast Jones.   This is kind of like the time MS went to six classes. Same teams too.

No more crying about the labor pains this season.

I’m ready to see the baby

I just hope the baby looks like a gold football on top of a wooden pedestal.

I admire your fire as a fan! Year 3 for Coach Hankins. I agree it is time to put it together. No excuses. Wayne County has been young the last 2 seasons. It is time to see the fruits of that labor. I will say I expect a drop off with talent in your region over all. Gautier will be replacing almost their entire offense along with their offensive coordinator who is retiring. East Central loses a ton defensively and on offense. Vancleave will be losing their best weapon and linemen on offense as well as their best defensive players. Stone is bringing back their Quarterback who is really good but will be losing some weapons around him and on defense, but they will be a solid team I believe. The region in my opinion should come down to you guys and Laurel.

Great points here.  The question that you have to ask yourself is, "Who do I want to represent South Mississippi in the 5A State Championship and who will give us the best shot of keeping the 5A crown in South Mississippi?"  Once you have clarity on that answer then things should start to line up accordingly.  I realize there will be some unexpected twists and turns, but if things aren't lined up for Wayne County this year to do something special then when will they be?

I thought it was odd not to have the River Bowl vs EC as the season finale for Vancleave, but I can get used to seeing you guys there.  Can't wait.

I also found it odd that Wayne Co-Laurel wasnt the final game of the season for them as well

That definitely seems odd, but at least they get them at home and won't have to go to Watkins Field.  Who knows what that field will be like come November.  I think it's a very favorable schedule for Wayne County so hopefully they can capitalize off of it.

Is that the official name for LHS stadium? In all my years of knowing about high school football, all I have ever known is Between the Bricks.
