It is a bad take. You should probably keep reading before you react . I literally went on to say coaches can run spring ball however they please and that some don’t even play spring games. That’s quite literally the coaches choice. If you only consider “spring ball” a spring game scrimmage then that’s fine. But to suggest doing away with player development during the spring is asinine.

What’s the skinny on this school ?

You can run your spring ball as you wish. Some coaches don’t even play spring games and don’t tackle much at all in the spring. But to say 90% of them would rather not do spring ball is pretty silly. That’s a critical time frame for development. It’s much tougher to get kids all in for summer workouts than it is during spring ball when they are pretty much obligated to be there.

I do have a new found respect for (some) of the private school programs in Mississippi. But only a few.

Starkville has been the most consistent in terms of reloading and getting the job done in November as of late. I’d bet on them if I had to.

Serious question….What does OG have to do with this?

I’m probably gonna be in the minority here. If a family wants to pick up and move to another area for whatever reason that’s their business. Including high school football. Nothing wrong with wanting to put your child in a better position to succeed if you’re able to do it. Academically and physically.

Not crazy about including the first championship in the second ring but I get it. Good looking stuff right there.

That’s kinda what happens when other areas grow. And as an alum… assuming you’re on the outside looking in, don’t take everything you hear as gospel.

Most of us knew that already. Amazing how OG went from everyone’s homecoming game to the most successful 7a program in South Mississippi currently.

Petal is a band school that just so happens to have a football team.

If you actually watched them and know football you’ll understand how important their D was to whatever they averaged.

I agree. Obviously it goes without saying but sometimes you can have more talent on paper but not have a better team or cohesive unit.

You certainly don’t wanna go down that hole seeing as WJ beat Terry 2-0 (no one in the state was holding OG to 2 points mind you) and Laurel was a one score game. OG played a consistently tougher schedule week in and week out than West Jones naturally because they’re in a tougher district and also traveled to Hoover. Had the matchup happened I’d bank on OG getting more stops than WJ could keep up with on the scoreboard. 24-14ish type score.

Sure. But they’ve scheduled the likes of Petal several times. I guess the timing just hasn’t lined up.

For sure. Unreal they haven’t scheduled each other yet.

Yea right. Much respect to West Jones their defense was great but they didn’t see an offense anywhere close to Oak Grove.
