Well I have heard that while a lot of Taylorsville kids are leaving, they are letting kids from Laurel, Bay Springs, and Collins move in even though they don’t live in the district. So there may not be much of a drop in numbers.

What’s believed to be going on with the coaching hire is that the superintendent is purposely dragging out the process so he can tell them board he has looked at all the candidates and that Jimbo Nowell is the only one that’s good enough that has applied. He has already told Nowell that he is the guy he wants, he’s just trying do what he can to make sure he can get it done with the board. He does not like any of the current staff that’s already there, and he’s told people that as far as he is concerned he wished they would have left with Coach Seth. There is no love between Taylorsville and the superintendent at all.

Close to 50 kids have left Taylorsville or are leaving Taylorsville after this year alone. I was told by a former teacher who is no longer there that the superintendent is the biggest problem that they have because he will not allow them to discipline the students who are a problem. So that’s running off good students and good teachers. That’s just what I was told by a former teacher and they have been gone from the county for a few years now. I just don’t think the people of Taylorsville realize how much power they have in controlling the board. Currently, 3 board members support the superintendent, and 2 of those board members are from Taylorsville districts. If they want a new superintendent, they have to elect board members who will get them one. Raleigh has 3 board members, and only one of them supports the superintendent. So you can’t blame Raleigh and you can’t blame Mize. Taylorsville voters can only blame themselves.

Two board members will go along with Hillman, and two board members will not. There is one swing voter who will probably determine what happens. Probably will be a 3-2 vote whatever way it goes.

I’m not saying the girls basketball coach doesn’t deserve the AD position, but you definitely will not have many qualified applicants apply for the job by doing that. And any coach that has success will bolt for the next bigger job that comes available.

Heard that Fortenberry withdrew his name from consideration when he learned he would be taking a big pay cut if he took the job. Thats probably why it’s being opened back up.

No coach at Mize will even apply for that job. Especially with the AD position not coming with it. The list of candidates won’t be any different this next time around.

You wouldn’t put them all at mize or all at Raleigh. Split them between Mize and Raleigh. Half to Raleigh and half to Mize. I don’t even want to do that, but I would rather see that instead of consolidation.

Heck no on consolidation. If they want to make Tville and elementary/middle school that’s fine. But no consolidation. Once those kids get to 9th grade they can split them up between mize and Raleigh. North Tville can go to Raleigh and south Tville can go to mize. But no consolidation.

The 87 EC team was probably better. The 89 Mize team was better than 88, but got upset by Mount Olive in the 1st round.

I don’t know what NEJ pays, but I can tell you this… Heidelberg is paying over $90k a year for head football coach if that tells you anything. East Jasper got plenty of money, which is mind boggling to me. Guess it’s the oil money

I had the 1995 Tville team as the best 2A team ever until the 2009 Bassfield team. That 09 Bassfield team is the best to me, followed by 1995 Tville and then probably 2005 Lumberton.

Thats what I was told on Carter. I was told the principal reached out to him when the job came open but he turned it down. People don’t realize how good East Jasper school district pays. Hard to turn down that money, plus he knows he will have a really good team for several more years.

Oak grove was better than west Jones, but it would have been a good game.

I heard yesterday that Frey accepted the Bogue Chitto job, but then was offered the Scott Central job when it became open and took it instead. If that’s true, Scott Central job has been filled and Bogue Chitto is open again.

Could be. That tells me the job doesn’t come with the athletic director position then. Not going to get alot of candidates if that’s indeed the case
