Dude, hartfield and MRA and private schools like that would beat Taylorsville 100 times out of 100. The private schools have pretty much dominated public schools overall since the two leagues started playing each other.
-
That’s what I’m suspecting. I am thinking numbers last year was over reported
-
2A is definitely more competitive than 3A.
-
There is no way Raleigh lost 18 students. Something is off with last years reported numbers or something. Or Raleigh underreported. I don’t think they lost that many students. I heard Tville gained, but I also heard they have lost.
-
That’s probably low 3A if so. I’m thinking around 220 is gonna be the 2A/3A cutoff but that’s simply just going off previous years. I’m curious what Tville’s numbers were
-
How did Raleigh go from 242 to 220-225 in one year?
-
I thought they released the districts for each class at that time. They usually release the numbers for each school in October don’t they?

Charleston is a heavy favorite in the north, IMO. Followed by Calhoun City. I don’t see anybody else really being a threat in the north, at least not compared to those two teams. The south has much more competitive teams. I still think Heidelberg is a slight favorite, followed by Raleigh, Scott Central, Bay Springs and Mize. I think all 5 of those teams could come out of the south.

Again, that’s just incorrect. We fumbled 3 times on the QB/FB exchange. And the fumble Wesson turned into points was on the kickoff where our back just couldn’t handle the ball with nobody around him. Wesson actually only “forced” one fumble and that’s when our fullback broke a 40 yard run only to have the DB strip the ball away from him on the 15 yard line. Which was a great play by the DB. But we fumbled on the 9 yard line and 2 yard line on botched exchanges between the QB and FB. None of that should take away from Wesson’s win. They played better than we did last night.
-
Our fullback had 150 yards by himself. That’s not “busting” a few. We ran the ball up and down the field. We just put the ball on the ground. We fumbled on the 15, the 9, and the 2 yard line. Wesson did not “dominate” that game. Heck I wouldn’t be surprised if Mize even had more total yards than Wesson. If I had to guess I would say Wesson had a little more, but it will probably be pretty close at least. And I said that Wesson fumbled themselves, but only for us to immediately cough it right back up to them, and unfortunately we did it when we were about to score. We didn’t take advantage when given opportunities. Wesson did however. They turned our turnovers into a score. As for having their way on the line of scrimmage, I wouldn’t say that’s accurate either. I do think Wesson won the line of scrimmage, but we all kind of expected that because we lost two of our starters from last weeks game with Raleigh. We started a new center and guard last night, but still moved the ball. Just put the ball on the ground at the worst time possible.

Mize never gave themselves a chance due to turnovers. Moved the ball up and down the field, but fumbled 3 times in scoring position. Once on the 2 yard line. Had 5 fumbles in total. We even picked up some turnovers ourselves, but then we would just turn it right back over to them. Probably had close to 300 yards of offense, but just couldn’t protect the ball.

I’m gonna go ahead and call Leake central with the upset.

A video of what

Curious to see how the Velma Jackson and leake central game turns out

The angle from behind makes it look like the QB was down for a good solid second before the ball popped out. But I saw some random pictures taken during the game that show it clearly from the front angle, and the ball is clearly out of our QB’s hands just before he’s knees touched the ground.
-
After seeing another view of the play that resulted in the fumble return for a Touchdown, it was indeed a fumble. So the officials did make the correct call.
-
Mize 185
-
Both teams finished with essentially the exact amount of total yards. Mize with 199 yards total offense, while Raleigh finished with 198. Raleigh got a defensive score and special teams score, and that’s all it takes. Fans always obsess about the offense, but it’s usually the other parts of the game that end up being the most important.
-
I think there are 5 teams in the south that could win it all. All are right there together. Mize, Raleigh, Heidelberg, Bay Springs, and Scott Central

Great game. Not a lot of offense, which is what I expected. The officiating was very suspect, but that’s not what determined the outcome of the game. Raleigh did score on a fumble return for a touchdown where the Mize QB was clearly down before the ball came out, but it is what it is. Thats part of the game. I think the biggest thing was, Raleigh had turned the ball over numerous times every game but tonight they had zero turnovers. And defensively they were just too good up front. Kudos to them on their last drive to run out the clock too. Decent chance these teams face again in the postseason.

Heard nothing

It was a really good game. Raleigh only scored once on offense but also scored on a fake punt and on a fumble return. The fumble return was a blown call by the official because the runner clearly down, but refs are human. Their last drive was crucial, taking up the final 6 minutes of the game.

Have you heard what numbers all the Smith County schools turned in? I think Mize was 185. Haven’t heard anything from Tville or Raleigh.
-
Numbers not available yet?
-
Didn’t see a prediction for Mize and Raleigh in there anywhere
