I know everybody thinks Wesson will win in a blowout. And I get it, they are undefeated. This is where I hope our scheduling works in our favor. Like you said though, if Mize continues to turn the ball over this week it will be the end of our season.

I think Lumberton can upset Nanih Waiya. That should be a good game. I will say NW gets the slight edge since they are at home though. I’m gonna predict stringer to beat Simmons. That’s my upset for this week in 1A. Leake County should beat Bogue Chitto

I saw it on Facebook yesterday. Basically a Hail Mary

It’s not a secret for mize. When we limit the turnovers, we do well. There has only been two games where our varsity didn’t have a single turnover, and those games were clarkdale and lake. Clarkdale was 45-0 and Lake was 49-0 when the starters were taken out. If we turn the ball over multiple times again this week against Wesson, we will get our tails whipped. We could lose even without any turnovers, but if we have turnovers it will be even worse. And we did get a couple of starters back last week against enterprise who had missed a few games with injuries, and that’s helped. Especially with depth.

I think Simmons weak schedule will catch up to them this year. I think Tville or stringer comes out of the south. More than likely Tville.

The Lumberton game was cancelled in the 1st quarter due to bad weather. That’s why it was only 7-0.

The best team Wesson has played this season is Franklin County. Their opponents have a combined record of 33-64. Everybody Mize has played is still playing in the 2nd round of the playoffs except for Enterprise Clarke. Mize will be the best team Wesson has played all season. That doesn’t mean Wesson still won’t win. But it won’t be a blowout.

If I’m the MHSAA, I would hand out severe punishment for Salem when this is all over with.
-
This now isn’t fair to Lumberton. You know that Lumberton didn’t fully prepare for this game.
-
Oh wow. I just saw the reason why they are back in. The Walthall county court ruled that they must be allowed to play. If I’m the MHSAA, after this is over I might would banish Salem from the MHSAA completely.
-
I get why they have allowed them back in, but I don’t agree with it. And that’s now exposing a problem with only having 4 teams in a district. What incentive does a team have for not trying to bend the rules when they can go 0-10 and still be guaranteed a playoff spot? A team like Salem can risk or mount olive or west Lincoln can break the rules, because even if they get punished and have to forfeit all their games, you still get to make the playoffs anyway. The punishment is supposed to be forfeit all games and not be eligible for the playoffs. They should have stuck to that, IMO.
-
Rules are rules. It’s not the kids fault. But it is the coaches
-
Here’s a theory I have kind of worked up in my head. There are only 4 teams in the district, so even if Salem went 0-10, they knew they would still make the playoffs. So what if their coach, knowing that, decided to risk taking a kid that was not eligible? If the MHSAA decided he was ineligible, even if they forfeit every game they could still make the playoffs since their is only 4 teams in the district anyway. But the MHSAA instead ruled them ineligible for the playoffs, which is the correct ruling. Either way, Salem’s coach and school officials dropped the ball.

His age was fine. The problem was, from what I have read, is that he failed (or was expelled) a year of high school. That counts towards your eligibility.

Why was the player ineligible?
